--------------------------------------------------------------
THE GOVERNMENT CAN PAY MY FEE?
Well, that may be an exaggeration, but sort of.
Often someone asks if they can make me a business expense and I rush to say, "Ask your accountant." But generally, yes, you can call "consulting" a business expense. This can apply to readings as well as on-going coaching, which can significantly reduce the cost.

TESTIMONIAL
(To me? Or to the Tarot?)
Phew!
Occasionaly the universe conspires to bring me the answer to exactly what I'm struggling with exactly when I need it. Thanks for being such a great tool -- of the universe, of course! :-)
I have Libra rising and constantly struggle with my inner debater about which way to go, which course of action is best, which decision should I make next. I have so MANY awesome ideas and not enough time to do all of them, so I spend an inordinate time thinking about all of them and "playing" with what ifs instead of just deciding and taking action and DOING.
If I could just do that more easily, I'd be so much more productive and effective. Anyway, It's time to get the sword out and start lopping off what I DON'T need anymore so I can make room for the taking action part of the equation.
I know all this. I just need to do it. But what else did you expect from someone under the influence of Libra?
Thanks!!!

NEW STORY FROM "THE OTHER SIDE"
Story from my Psychic readings
I did quite a long reading for Julie and at the end of it we both felt rather dissatisfied because there had apparently not been much drama to it, or so we thought at the time. As it turned out, this was one of those readings that becomes a "slow burn" and the client learns more after the reading then during it, which in the long run is probably more valuable anyway.
When I first went into my imaginary "workshop" in my mind, the image that came was of Julie as a small child standing at the end of a dock looking down into the water and screaming. The scene was disturbing because she seemed hysterical and more out of control than a small child would normally be over most childhood mishaps. The scene remained in the workshop for quite some time and nothing seemed to be developing from it. I mentioned it to Julie in hopes it would mean something to her, but she found no connection with any memory.
When I went back to the workshop, the scene remained and now I was curious enough to walk out on the dock myself. The child was obviously terrified of something that she saw in the water, and perhaps if I could see it I could untangle the mystery. When I reached the end of the dock, I looked into the water and saw resting on the bottom of the bay, just a couple feet under the surface of the water, a dead body, bloated and ashen white, its eyes staring up at me. The image was so real that it startled me and remains vivid to this day.
I opened my eyes and described what I saw in hopes Julie would have a sudden memory or explanation of the scene, but it still meant nothing to her. She did explain that she has always had an extreme fear of water, but not in the usual sense. She is not afraid of drowning, but afraid there is something in the water that will get her, even in a well-lit swimming pool. The phobia is so severe that she refuses to put her foot in lakes or even sit too close to a pool for fear of being pushed in. There certainly could be a connection to the phobia and the scene I saw, but nothing came to her mind.
When I went back to the workshop, the next scene was of an enormous mansion on the east coast, like something out of the movies. I walked through the front door into a huge entry room with a dramatic staircase and tall windows. In the center of this room was a casket with a woman's body in it. Again the image was so clear that I opened my eyes and told Julie what I saw and asked if it had any significance to her. From my description the house was obviously her grandmother's. She owned one of New York State's largest estates, situated on a small bay. Her grandmother had died when Julie was a small child, but she didn't remember any of the details.
The final scene in the workshop was of Julie being actually locked into a small room in the attic of this estate and not being allowed out for hours at a time. There was a stern governess standing in the circular driveway watching me and making it clear that she would not allow me inside. When I told this to Julie, the image seemed to have a jarring effect on her and she had a distinct memory of being kept against her will by a cruel woman, but nothing was very clear. The reading ended with other information for Julie about her current situation and she left to listen to the tape of our session.
The next day she called to say she had had an extraordinary time listening to the tape and recalling dozens of long-lost memories from her childhood. She was so shaken by the experience that she had to see me that very day.
When we met, she sat with tears in her eyes recalling events and emotions triggered by the reading and the images I had seen. She had suddenly remembered that her grandmother died while she was staying with her for a summer, probably when she was about four years old. She remembered the confusion and upset and commotion as the large family gathered for the funeral and reading of the will.
She had been told her grandmother had died and gone to heaven, which while it may not have been too clear, did at least explain why she was not around anymore. She was content with the explanation until one day grandmother's body appeared in the casket in the entry hall for friends and neighbors to view. Julie vividly recalled being very confused and terrified that grandmother was not dead and in heaven as she was told, but in fact was in the entry hall sleeping! She had some awful, yet vague memory of touching the body, which may have been the event which triggered her mind to block the entire memory. She does remember being very upset that people had lied to her about the situation.
She was able to follow the entire sequence of events and remembers that the next day the casket was removed, there was a ceremony of sorts, and then she was told that grandmother was going to be put into the bay! As a child, she had no concept of cremation, and probably would not have believed anyone anyway since she had already been lied to about grandmother being in heaven. Now she was being told that grandmother was going to be thrown into the bay at the end of the dock, and when she got to that point in her recall, my image of the body in the water made perfect sense. It finally explained why she was terrified of some unknown thing in the water, and well she might be with such an image. She even recalled that shortly after the funeral, a governess was hired to take care of her for the rest of the summer and the woman did in fact lock her in a small room whenever she was "bad." She remembered that as being even more terrifying than dealing with her grandmother's death.

WRITER'S CORNER
(Here's a sweet true story from a devoted reader. If you have writing to share, let me see it.)
WHEAT HEARTS
By Mark Robbens
The sharp, incessant beeping of the alarm jerked me awake at 5 a.m. as it did every third morning. Swatting the switch, I slumped back onto the pillow, shut my eyes and pulled the covers up. Why can't they make an alarm with a pigeon cooing or a cat purring?
This had been my life for a year, ever since my wife had left me, at age 24, with our three kids. This existence seemed like it would stretch out for eternity, and I often struggled to have hope that there might one day be escape and freedom.
Kids should come with a with a government warning label. "Product will exhaust you after delivery" or "Caution: Children can harm your mental health" or, maybe, "Warning: You might explode under pressure." After the first kid, at least, most of us would heed the advisory.
The house was quiet and still. The early winter morning was black and starless. I sighed and heaved myself out of bed because duty, the stern servant of God's command, demanded it.
I felt perpetually tired.
I padded to the kitchen and reached past the bowl of fruit to turn on the coffee pot and then the light above the stove -- light was painful to me in the morning -- so I did it in stages.
Maybe I should try going to bed earlier.
I climbed the stairs and went in to wake my two boys. They were two angelic towheads and both were slumbering hard. I paused to just look at them.
How did I deserve them?
I always hated rousing them, even gently. John, at three and-one-half years old, was especially tired. He had woken me up at 2 a.m. with a night terror and had wet the bed. After I had gotten him awake and his soaked Spiderman pajamas and bedding changed -- it's strange how easily you get used to body fluids when you have kids -- he wanted my closeness next to him, reassuring him back to sleep. I lay on top of the covers with my arm around him.
His blond hair smelled of the shampoo from his bath seven hours earlier. My heart was full with affection. I wished I could cocoon him from his demons and the pain of his mom's abandonment. Once he was asleep, I got up, put a load of clothes in the washer and returned to whatever sleep remained for me before the alarm signaled the start of another day.
"Time to get up bum," I said to each of my sons as I kissed their ears.
They both awoke, sleepy, but in good moods -- they didn't get that from me -- and began putting on the clothes I had laid out.
I went to get Amy, a few months shy of two. She beamed at me in her one-piece, pale-yellow, flannel pajamas and hugged me as I carried her downstairs to change her diaper and get her dressed. She had been born three months prematurely -- one pound, 14 ounces -- and had been slow to walk and talk but was now catching up with a determination that I admired. She was the light of my life.
I washed my hands, measured and poured water into a pot to boil for hot cereal. I heard the boys talking and the toilet flush before Josh and John emerged in shirts I didn't remember laying out for them and took their seats at the table.
"Who wants toast and jam with their cereal?" I asked.
"Me!" they said in unison.
What a surprise.
I hurriedly poured the cereal into the boiling water, gave it a quick stir, put the lid on, turned the burner down and put bread in the toaster.
Josh, four-and a-half, had gotten milk out and poured cups for his brother and sister -- responsibility, apparently, something he did get from me -- as I dished cereal into mismatched bowls, sprinkled them with brown sugar and placed them on the table.
"Careful, they're hot," I warned. "Put some milk on it." Then I proceeded to pour milk into each bowl.
I poured myself a cup of coffee and sat down to keep them company and took my first deep breath of the day. These mornings were hectic but it also felt like we were a tight little pack.
"Dad, what are the lumps in the cereal?" asked Josh.
"Those are the wheat hearts, bum" I said, thinking fast.
"Oh," Josh said. "I have a bunch of them."
"Josh, I have more than you!" boasted John, a spider man action figure in his left hand. "They're good."
"Me, too!" declared Amy with a big grin, her teeth coming in, cereal running down her chin.
Josh and John had developed a companionable competition with each other, even at this early age, one that never led to anger. Josh was too easy-going and John, figuratively and literally, looked up to his older brother.
"You guys just eat up," I said. "We need to leave in a few minutes."
"Dad," said John. "Do you think Spiderman could beat Superman?"
"Sure," I replied. "But he'd have to think really fast because Superman can move really quickly, but Spiderman is smarter."
John smiled, pleased with that answer, and resumed eating his breakfast.
I poured more coffee and began to comb their hair. Some of John's refused to lay down even after I wet my fingers several times and tried to slick it into submission. Amy's hair which had finally grown in -- they had shaved her tiny head in the neonatal unit to start IVs -- but it was like late August tall grass, straight but droopy. A couple of pink barrettes and she was the cutest little girl there ever was, at least in my world.
"Finish up, guys," I said on my way to the basement to put the wash in the dryer. "We have to go or I'm going to be late for work."
I collected the bowls, washed them quickly and helped Amy into her coat -- a pink snow parka with fake fur around the hood. I kissed her forehead and quickly checked their bag for extra diapers, pajamas and a change of clothes. They would be at the sitter's until the end of my fireman's shift -- 24 hours -- so I had to pack to cover all the contingencies.
Then it was out to my old Chevy truck. I buckled in my responsibilities and was off to my childcare provider.
She was a thin, polite woman with a certain tense kindness about her. I liked her, maybe because finding someone who would watch another's children, as well as her own, all day -- if only every third day -- was practically impossible.
I dropped the kids off with warm squeezes and kisses and a warning to "behave." I didn't want to leave them. They were so cute, trusting and good-natured. They were also mischievous, energetic and exhausting.
The sky was slowly starting to lighten as I started my truck. I sighed and felt like crying. This wasn't what I wanted to be doing, or, at least not this way. I was 25 and would rather be partying with my friends -- none of whom were married -- and living with a girlfriend, instead of this monastic life with the under-five crowd. I didn't see any travel, any sleep or any fun for the rest of my existence.
I didn't see any love life either (I'd easily settle for sex even if it had gotten me into this predicament).
Thinking such thoughts was an indulgence. I knew I could never abandon my children. I just wished I could. When I was on-duty, I wanted to be home and when I was home I just wanted to be on duty. Anyplace other than where I was.
I had heard that was a sign of depression.
I sighed, put the truck in gear and headed for the fire station. My shift started promptly at seven.
****
Several months later, the kid's mother started to take them on a semi-kind-of-regular basis, though it often meant I had to provide transportation and the food for the weekend. One Sunday night after she had brought them back at night, they were in the bathtub.
"So, how was your weekend with Mom?" I asked.
"Good," they all said together.
"Except, she doesn't know how to make Wheat Hearts," pouted John.
"Oh?"
"Yeah," said Josh. "She made them without any! When we asked her where they were she got mad."

JUSTICE....The Libra Card
Okay, Okay! I get it!
I've now had two pissed-off Librans and a couple other errant signs complain that I didn't do "their" Tarot card last issue. On the one hand I don't like being threatened by Librans....note the large sword in the lady's hand in the card....on the other hand, it is nice to know someone out there is reading this.
This is one of my favorite cards to teach in class because there's so much to say. Don't worry...I won't say it all here. This card is called "the sticking point" in the Tarot journey. It acknowledges that any time we're on a path of discovery there will come a time when we don't make headway the way we did at the start. This is normal. At least it's normal for the rest of us. For Librans it unfortunately can become a way of life.
Librans often get trapped with the scales. They like to weigh everything on the one hand...and then on the other hand...and then.... Note the woman's one foot peeking out. I often think the other foot is nailed to the floor and while she may be able to move, she would only go around in circles weighing and weighing. This very attribute may be why there are so many Librans working with coaches. They often need help getting unstuck and moving in a straight line.
This is called "The Action" card. Its advice is to take some action to get out of that mode of going in circles. But be careful here. People often look at the big sword and think that action will come by lopping off heads or making dramatic changes. I have a favorite Libra client who shall go nameless, Richard, who does this just to terrify the Virgo psychic. Every few years he gets bored, hands in his notice at work then calls me in a panic wondering where he'll go and what he'll do. Every reading I do begins with me asking where in the hell he is!
But there is another way to create action. The most important symbol in the card is again her little foot peeking out. The advice is that small steps will, over time, create great action toward your heart's desire.
The other great phrase used for this card is "loss for a greater gain." This concept is hard for Americans to comprehend. We don't want to lose anything. When we have a problem, we usually look outside ourselves and want more money, a bigger house, a better job, a new romance. It's the American way to want more! But this card actually says that if you're feeling stuck, look at what you can cut out of your life. When you cut out something you create a void into which you must fall. Quitting your job can do that, but you can create action in much smaller increments and attain the same result....Richard.
The Bottom Line:
If you're feeling stuck you might look at what you could eliminate in your life and then what small steps you can take to fill the void it will leave. I remind coaching clients that it's impossible to know all the steps you'll take to reach a goal, but once you're there you can look back and see what steps you took to get there and you'll always note they were mostly small steps. You looked at a college catalogue; you had lunch with a friend who mentioned something; you snooped online for a date or a job. And now look how far you've come! This whole process is the essence of coaching. What little steps will you take today toward your goal?

Reflecting on Reflecting....a FREE Coaching Trick
To Be Seen or Not To Be Seen
Talk is Cheap. FREE Even!
Writers' Corner
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(From the Archives at the website:www.donclarkson.com )
A FREE Coaching Trick
REFLECTIONS ON REFLECTING
Here is yet another very practical tool you can use to gain insight into yourself and your subconscious. I came to this tool, which I recommend to many of my coaching clients, after many years of frustration. An example may help explain.
Many years ago during a cycle of general angst over my life's situation, I went to a nearby beach to commune with God or whatever it is 'out there' that I thought had the answers. As a good Virgo, I went with yellow legal pad and pen, earnestly waiting for The Words of Wisdom so I could transcribe them. (Now that I think of it, I seem to believe that God speaks more clearly too me if I'm naked. But I digress...)
Nothing happened. No voice, no insights, nothing. And I was pissed! I left in a Virgo snit and drove home, only to discover during the drive that a voice spoke to me very clearly. By the time I drove into my garage, I had the answer.
I watched this same pattern many times in my life. I go to a 'sacred spot' with a question and wait for the answer. Nothing. But later I get the clarity I searched for.
I think there is a lesson here for us when we go into a reflective state. It's almost as though my thoughts have to travel out past Pluto, reflect off some distant satellite, and bounce back to me in the form of an answer. Actually, I just think it takes time for our subconscious to work on the issue and report back to us. But whichever explanation you like... the answers come LATER, not at the time of the asking.
As the ancient Tarot says, "Ask and you will receive."
If you have a situation for which you seek guidance, I suggest you formulate a question very clearly. Then go to your 'reflection' period. That can be walking around the park; hiking on a mountain; watching the ocean; fishing; staring at a candle. Go do the activity but do NOT think about the issue. The activity or reflective time is for letting the thought settle down into your subconscious... or travel out past Pluto. This is the 'release,' in metaphysics. Let go of the issue for this time period and let the subconscious work on it.
But when your active time or reflection is over, 'download' the answer that will be waiting. Sit down with your yellow legal pad and start writing whatever comes to mind. You will be amazed how easily information flows once you get it started!
In summary:
Formulate the question
Set it aside and do an activity
Download the answer
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TO BE SEEN....OR NOT TO BE SEEN
Don't be shy. Smile! You're on Skype!
If you don't have it or understand it, take heart. Skype is FREE and actually very easy to use. In the past few weeks I've done face-to-face readings with clients in India, Australia, Fiji, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, England, and France. Mon dieu!
Even more and more local clients are using it to save a trip to town, parking fees, traffic, etc. With my pretty face covering your computer screen, it's almost like being in the same room for a reading.
If you're afraid, I'll even help walk you through the process. All you need is a camera, which costs under $30 if you don't already have one built in to your computer, and Skype downloaded into your computer for free. Click here: Skype
---------------------------------------------------------------
TALK IS CHEAP....FREE EVEN
And I'm speaking here in two very different senses:
1. If you are skeptical about "the psychic thing" or kinda, sorta, maybe interested in coaching but not convinced, I'm happy to talk about either issue at no charge. I'm also happy to do a free coaching session to give you a real sense of what the process is about. Call 503-295-9777.
2. I give talks all around the city to a variety of groups from New Renaissance Books, to Catholic Women, to Bigfoot Society. (Yes, I really did!) If you're looking for a speaker on an unusual, possibly strange, but always interesting topic....give me a try! 503-295-9777 or email: donclarkson@comcast.net

WRITERS' CORNER
(God loves writers best so here is a place to showcase clients' writing. If you have something to share, let me know.)
ART SURVIVED 9/11
By Giorgio Guarnero
On an early spring day, my father and I left the house to attend the ceremony to set the corner stone to what would become the new Lincoln Center for the Arts. President Eisenhower had come to New York for the special event. We happened to be sitting on the platform for special guests because my father was attached to the Italian government. We were so close to the President I could see the drops of perspiration on his forehead.
I was wearing my first suit with long pants so I felt this was my step into adulthood. I sat very straight and paid attention to every word that came out of the President's mouth. He said that this is the beginning of what will be a center for the arts; where there will be no frontiers; where the only language will be the language of love, love for the arts, where all nations forget their differences.
In 1962 I happened to be in Berlin shortly after the wall had been erected. Every day I could see more soldiers and tanks and see the wall getting longer and higher. I would stand in front of the Brandenburg arch and look at the other side, knowing East Berliners had lost their rights and freedom. In subsequent trips to Berlin, I visited the east but after crossing Check Point Charlie there was always the feeling of fear, where your human rights had been restricted and where the state ruled your body and spirit. It didn't take more than a few minutes to realize I was in a different world, where even the sun didn't seem to shine the same way.
One day in 1972 on lower Manhattan started to emerge above the skyline two buildings which would eventually become the Trade Center towers. Every day they grew until finally they dominated the whole horizon. It was a daily pleasure to see them every morning on my way to work, shining with the early sun, like two columns of fire, and at night like two arrows of light piercing the sky. Every time I flew into New York they were there to welcome me.
Time has passed and the Berlin wall is only a memory. Here and there are a few relics that remind us of that era of shame. Every time I take the bus 100 at the zoo station and finally cross under the Brandenburg arch, there is no more fear. I can read on the people's faces that sense of joy that comes from freedom.
The towers are gone too. What was the pride of America went down, just like the Colossus of Rhodes who had clay feet. They succumbed, victims of hate and ignorance and this made us realize we aren't untouchable and we may have over estimated our power.
The wall was built to deprive freedom. The towers were to show how superior and strong we are and now both are gone, but every time I cross Lincoln Center Plaza I seem to hear President Eisenhower's words. He was right. Every day and night we have works and artists from all over the world. This is a center for the arts where there is no frontier, where the only language spoken is the language of love...love for the arts.

TAROT EDITION
(Since putting pictures or graphics in my Psychic Phlashes throws me into many spam folders, I send out a text only newsletter followed by this with a Tarot card for the surprisingly large number of people who even care!)
THE HERMIT
The Virgo card
When I first saw the Tarot cards laid out on my living room carpet in about 1979, I was fascinated by the pictures. They were bold and colorful, to be sure, but they obviously told stories of some kind and I was hooked wanting to know what those stories were. And of all the cards, I kept looking at the Hermit card and for weeks was drawn to it almost mysteriously. Then I took up the study of Kaballah and Tarot through Builders of the Adytum and I soon realized the card was the Virgo card, my own sign. Over the years I've seen many new clients come to my office and be attracted to a certain card that I have displayed on the wall and it's surprising the number of times the card is their sign. If you're curious about your card, I'll list them at the end of this article.
The Hermit card is called "attaining the knowledge of your heart's desire."
The Hermit is old and tired because he's been searching for his heart's desire for a long time, but he has finally arrived at a resting place. He now knows what he wants to be when he grows up. He isn't there yet...there are many cards yet to go on the Tarot journey...but he is having a pinnacle experience in just knowing what he wants. And he is alone. Finding what you most want to do in life is a solitary experience that cannot be shared with others. This concept always bothers students in my classes until I explain that "alone" does not need to mean "lonely." It is a solitary experience but just out of view of the card there are others on top of their mountains who have attained the knowledge of their heart's desire so there is company to be had!
This card rules diet and nutrition. Virgos are often plagued by nervous stomachs and digestive issues and can become fussbudgets and even fanatics over their diet and nutrition....or so I've read....
On the superficial level, the card shows a man on top of a mountain with snowcapped mountains around him. But if you could see the actual blackness of the card compared to other blacks you would see it's really not black but a deep midnight blue. And the esoteric meaning of the card...which you promise not to discuss or at least promise not to tell who told you...the inner meaning says that he's really inside the intestinal track. Yuk!
This card is all about how that proper diet you worried so about is actually absorbed into your body. How that piece of bread magically crosses the barrier in your intestines and becomes literally part of your cell structure is a very magical process.
And here's the really magical information. The ancients believed that if you visualized what you wanted the food to do for you before you ate it, that image would be impregnated into the food and the image would cross the barrier into your very cell structure. Thus, in time, every cell of your body would have a picture of what you wanted most in your life. It's for this reason that when I teach classes on visualization, I suggest students take just 15 seconds to imagine what they want the food to do before they ingest it. If nothing else, the conscious mind is reminded of what you most want in your life, and there is a chance the ancients were right and the image is being absorbed into you.

What's Astrology Got to do with it?
The Best Tarot Card....The Hermit, or Virgo card

--------------------------------------------------------
TEMPUS FUGIT. MEMENTO MORI
A bit dramatic perhaps, but it makes a point. "Time flies. Remember death."
Remember all those things you said you'd get to once summer was over? Well I have news for you. The party of summer is over and it's a "back to school" mentality. And the Psychic Predicts that before you know it, The Holidays will be upon us and today will be a memory. You do not want to berate yourself for all those things you didn't accomplish yet again.
Here's a simple, effective, and FREE coaching tip to help you reach your goals.
Sit down and make a list of the things you want to accomplish by the end of the year. Review general areas of your life. Is there a Spiritual goal you have? Want to take up a study of some new practice? Perhaps there's a group you want to sample?
Physically do you have goals such as weight loss or weight gain? (Yes, there are a few people like that!) Is there an athletic goal like a competition you'd like to enter?
Look at your career and see if there are changes you want to make in it or do you want to change careers entirely.
Once you have the general goals written down, now take a sticky note and write down one specific thing you can do this week for each general area. Maybe it's just to make a call to get information about a class. Perhaps you'll try swimming one time. Make the weekly goal SMALL and easy so at the end of the week you will have a sense of success and accomplishment.
Put that sticky note on the Monday calendar and then do a new one each Monday morning to give yourself those few simple steps you can take this week toward a larger goal. You will be amazed that those little steps, over time, will add up to major changes.
Instead of hearing yourself say, "My God the holidays are here and I didn't do what I planned," you could hear yourself say, "My God I did it! I'm where I wanted to be!"
And if you need a hand or a boot you can always call me for a reading to get clarity on what you want as a goal or you can call me as a coach and let me help you move toward those goals. 503-295-9777.
As the Latin phrase says, time flies quickly and there is an end. The meter is running. The clock is ticking. And the older I get the louder the ticking becomes and the faster the clock moves....

CIGARS GOING INTO TUNNELS
Clients often come for a reading with preconceived notions of what a psychic is all about. "So and So is on my North Node in astrology." Here, let me help you pick it off!
Or, "My angels have been telling me what to do." Hum..hem, haw.
And recently, several clients have started a session with a detailed explanation of a recent dream that they want me to explain.
Just because I'm a psychic does not mean I know much or anything about astrology or dreams. To prove my point, I blush to remember a dream interpretation class I once took. There were about 5 women and two men all sitting in the front row of a classroom. This was in the olden days when I was in an eight man rowing team and I described a vivid dream I'd had where I was trying to put the long, hard oar into the round oarlock and having trouble so I kept describing how I had to put it in and out, and in and out. For emphasis, I know I repeated it several times. "But I have no idea what the message was in this dream," I said.
The teacher blessedly stopped me from continuing and said, "Let's save that dream for next week when we discuss sexual dreams."
Sexual? Huh?
I looked down the row of people to see the other man staring straight ahead in embarrassment for me and the five women all leaning forward looking at me with either shock or anticipation.
My point. I'm terrible at dream analysis and I think most people are who aren't trained. There are some common symbols that you need to know before you start trying to figure out the subconscious and you can come up with very wrong interpretations if you don't know what you're doing. It's the same as people who buy a deck of Tarot cards and start "playing" with the cards.
But wait. I think there is a simple way to better understand your dreams without going to Freud or Jung. You can just ask your subconscious to explain! This is why I've spent several decades learning and using the Huna method of dialoguing with my own subconscious. If I have an odd dream and don't understand it, I can go to this child-like aspect of myself, call him to my attention, and ask him to explain what the dream meant. So simple. And free! You can learn more about it by reading books on Huna, such as HUNA an Introduction, by Hoffman. Or...you can watch my video on visualization at my website:www.donclarkson.com

CASE STUDY FROM THE ARCHIVES
A LOVE OUT OF THIS WORLD
John Doe I'll call him. Certainly to protect his anonymity, but also to imply that he is a type beyond just himself. I have counseled 3 or 4 men who are very similar. Curiously this type has always been male for reasons which escape me.
John came as a typical client with general malaise about his life in general and love life in particular. Nothing traumatic but nothing really working either. He had recently ended yet another lackluster relationship with a woman. Somehow he knew he 'should' have a relationship but he never experienced real depth in them. And no, he wasn't gay. He'd asked that of himself and was very clear that he was not attracted to men. His career was OK, but just. This man and his life all seemed gray and dull. I seriously feared I would drift off to sleep even reading him!
Quite the opposite happened when I entered my mental 'workshop.' How unsettling it must be to have a psychic reader break down in sobs in front of you! How embarrassing for the psychic. I could never fully explain what happened when I went into that imaginary space. I imagined seeing John in the room and that's in a sense the last concrete thing I saw. The rest is more of a feeling. I had the sense of being drawn into something overwhelmingly powerful and I felt an almost painful aching inside me. I can't decide if it was more a crushing feeling of something weighing on me, or some force inside pushing to get out. But I watched as John, in my workshop, just sat there in a glowing light with tears running down his face and a smile that felt like the Mona Lisa. I had the oddest sense that I had touched a force that I could only call love. This simple, gray man seemed to have it or connect to it in a very powerful way. And I felt so sorry for him. It seemed clear that he was not of this world and he would never find an easy path trying to be of it.
Suddenly I saw one of my favorite books, Ordinary People as Monks and Mystics, and then it became clear to me who this man could be. He was a monk. He was one of these people who needs to connect to a spiritual world very different from our ordinary world. He needs to set himself apart for that role.
How in hell to tell him that?! All I could do was describe the feelings I had experienced and tell him what I knew about the role of monk. And when I did, he too cried! He felt the same thing and he felt great relief to be able to talk about it. It explained why his worldly relationships and careers always paled in comparison to this inner call to connect to God. He had an intense need to be private and alone in his experience of love.
I could easily have discounted that position, but I didn't because I had heard the same thing from a famous monk, Thomas Merton. My question was always what difference could it make if some monk or nun spent their days in prayer to God? They should be out 'doing' something to show their love. But Merton makes a wonderful case for the hermetic life. On some very real level, he claims that one man or woman giving their life to Love raises us all above the common place. Somehow that love is emitted into the world for us all. Don't ask me to explain it, but I certainly felt it one day in my office and I can tap into that feeling at anytime, knowing John is out there living his very quiet life of reflection, prayer, and love. And I know he is because he tells me he is now that the burden is off him to have a 'real' and 'normal' life of workaday world and relationships.
You don't need to go do what John is doing, but you can benefit from it just knowing that he is out there Being Love. Or perhaps you can find some time in your life when you can just BE and connect with that same stuff.

TAROT CARD
THE HERMIT, or Virgo card.
If you're interested in the Tarot, stay tuned and look for a second edition of Psychic Phlashes that will include the card.
-----------------------------------------------------
WHAT'S ASTROLOGY GOT TO DO WITH IT?
I am NOT an astrologer and don't want to be. As my friend and astrologer Diana Stone once said, "Why bother when you have me in your life?" She studies astrology and I study the Tarot.
However, there is one astrological aspect you may want to know and I usually ask clients before a session if they know their Rising sign, or Ascendant. Almost no one knows and yet in some ways it's "the other half" of you so you may want to know it. It may explain parts of your personality you don't understand. Or it may give you a place to "go" if you don't want to act out your natural instincts of your sun sign.
For example, I'm a Virgo with Virgo rising. I have nowhere to go. My house is clean and orderly; my socks are all rolled. As one stranger once said, "You're a Virgo. You've ironed those paint pants!" Well...of course. On the other hand, my brother is also a Virgo. We were both born on September 11th 3 years apart. There is absolutely nothing about him that says Virgo. I don't know what his rising sign is, but it sure isn't Virgo.
If you'd like to know yours, here's a link that will tell you.
http://www.horoscopeswithin.com/calculate.php
Then go somewhere online and read a few paragraphs about that sign and see if it makes sense to you.

VIRGO SPECIAL
If you're a Virgo you're obviously very special and I want to honor that by giving you a two-for-one special. Both readings need to be used in September. Great way to impress a friend with your gift!

(As I explained in the Psychic Phlash #1, this is my attempt to get past spam filters! The #1 issue is text only while this Tarot version has a picture. If you didn't get this without some effort, you might program your email program to accept my email address.)
I'm constantly surprised, pleased, and vastly encouraged when I hear from so many readers that they love the Tarot card interpretation. I'm happy to share my 30 years of study and teaching of this wonderful Kaballah system!
THE MAGICIAN (or not)
Oh, what good it does the heart
To know it isn't magic!
(From "Stanley Kunitz" poem by Mary Oliver)
I don't generally go back to my English teacher days, but for the Magician card I think Mary Oliver's poem perfectly explains the card. You may read the whole poem by clicking on this link. http://www.poemhunter.com/best-poems/mary-oliver/stanley-kunitz/"Stanley Kunitz"
In the first stanza, the speaker admires Stanley's magical garden and looks upon him as Merlin, a magician who created the perfect garden. But upon reflection, the speaker notices that it wasn't magic that created the garden, but rather hard work. Stanley Kunitz is seen on his knees working hard to make what appears to others to be magic. Dare we summarize by saying Work or Focus creates Magic? And what good it does the heart to know it isn't magic that creates reality but work. If it were magic, most of us would be left out and only special magicians could create. But it isn't special people who get what they want but any of us, simply by focusing.
In the card the Magician reaches up into the yellow diffuse energy with the lightening rod in his hand and then he makes "magic" happen on the table by creating real objects out of the nothingness. But how did he do that? He did it with his mind. Conscious mind. Out of all the things that energy could be, he chose these four objects to appear, and he chose them in his mind.
This card is called "attention" and "intention." Those two concepts are shown in the infinity sign over the Magician's head. The card advises us to be like the large sweeping part of the figure 8 and go out and with attention collect all the information, data, opinions, etc that we need, but then we need to become very intentional and as with the figure 8 where it crosses itself, we become single-pointed, laser, and Zen-like. It's at this point that the so-called magic will happen. We will make happen what we chose. It wasn't some illusive and unattainable force that did it. We did it ourselves with our imagination and focus!

Metaphysics and MONEY
Letters...I get Letters
August Special Revisited...Whew!
Why Two Newsletters?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
(This is an article I wrote in 2003. Sadly, it still seems valueable!)
METAPHYSICS AND MONEY - MONEY - MONEY - MONEY.
As several readers have commented on over the years, I tend to 'tackle the big issues head on' in this newsletter. What issue is most on peoples' minds today? What needs to be discussed and probably isn't?
"It's the economy, stupid!" The issues I deal with in my psychic practice tend to go in cycles, and now most clients are asking for help with money, so let's talk about money in the illusive realm of metaphysics.
I could get very airy-fairy here and mention the ancient concept that money is not a thing but is really energy used as a means of exchange. We know this to be true in some sense because most of us don't actually use money anymore... coins, bills. Most 'money' transactions are done electronically using energy, quite literally. So money is more of a concept than a thing that can be horded and counted.
But if it's just energy, why do we all get so frightened about it? We ascribe all our survival fears onto it now. Humans are all afraid of loss, lack, starvation, deprivation. We have attached all that to money, so it's no wonder we worry about it. But imagine that if you were in a culture that did away with all money, you would still have your fears of loss that you would have to attach to something else. So it really wasn't the money after all, but the fear that we need to deal with.
>From my reading of metaphysics, our fears have been forced down into our subconscious where they fester and grow until they explode into the conscious realm in some known fear or ailment. So, it would seem that the subconscious is where we need to go to deal with the fears. There are several known and proven systems for you to work with your subconscious on these fear issues. I don't need to remind you of my own belief in the power of visualization. There is also the very simple and effective tool of making a collage of pictures showing where you would like to be in terms of what money could do for you. There is the old standby that works for many, prayer. Any and all of these techniques can work if you do the one thing common to them all: focus on the end picture. Do NOT focus on the money. The subconscious does not understand money as a concept, so having one piece of money is the same as a million. What it does understand is what money can DO for you, so all systems that I know of suggest you decide what you want the money to do and visualize, pray, for that.
Another metaphysical solution may be to go outside yourself for help through metaphysical practitioners. Dare I remind you, a psychic reading might just be in order to help you focus on the best course of action to take in a recession? Could save lots of time and energy going down dead end paths. Another route I have suggested to many of my clients is to visit a shaman. This seemed too far out for me until I started to see what the shamans could do with issues like money. I don't pretend to understand how they work, but I know from first hand experience and that of dozens of my clients that it can and does work. A shaman would really work on the 'energy' of your money issue. If you're interested, you can check out the Networking section of my website for a shaman near you.
And finally, to raise the discussion to an even higher, or remote, area... If you are having economic troubles perhaps this period will in the end be of great value to you. Or you could try to make it so. I have watched many of my clients fret and fuss over their lack of money or proper work until one day they wake up to the fact that they needed to totally reevaluate their lives and it was the money pressure that made them do that. It wasn't pleasant perhaps, but in the long run they moved their lives into realms they might never have gone if everything had gone smoothly. In a recent interview, I heard the singer Joni Mitchell say, in describing a particularly difficult period of her life, "When you throw out the demons the angels leave also." She went on to explain that only in her trials did new and creative answers come for her life. If she had not had the conflict or 'demon' she would never have gotten the 'angel' with the solutions. Certainly none of us ask for financial problems, but if it comes to you, perhaps there are ways you can make it an angel of discovery that will bring great joy and benefit.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
AUGUST SPECIAL REVISITED
Whew. I asked for business and I got it! I may never do a 2-4-1 special again so you better make the most of this one! You can have two readings for the price of one any time in August but they both have to be used in August. Think of that friend who's afraid to have a reading. Or that cheap inlaw who always wants a deal. Or perhaps there's a birthday this month? Better hurry. August is half over.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
WHY TWO NEWSLETTERS?
I generally send out a newsletter with at least a Tarot card, and sometimes with other photos or graphics. This last newsletter was text only and I got a huge response. A number of people thought I was dead or out of the business because they hadn't heard from me for months.
But wait. I send out newsletters about every two weeks, so if you're not getting it the newsletter probably went into your spam folder. To avoid that, I'm going to send this newsletter in text only and know that 5 minutes after sending this one I'll send a second with the popular tarot card discussion. If you don't get it, check your spam folder!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
LETTERS....I GOT LETTERS
Following two letters are included as blantant self--promotion!
Hey Don,
I wanted to let you know that as usual, you were 100% spot on with the reading. You are amazing! If you ever want a raving reference, send them to me.
Linda B
-----------------------------------------
Hi Don,
Over the years I have signed myself up for lots of newsletters that I read once or twice and finally unsubscribe.
You're still here. Sometimes you get a quick look and other times, like today, I read the whole darn thing. This story is phenomenal. I'm a psychic and I would go to you if I needed a psychic phlash. Better than a hot one.
Also I appreciate that you addressed the problem of the client, usually female, who needs serious help and it's not me. It's a sticky issue so it's useful for me to hear someone else mentioning it while my nose stays clean. Thanks for taking the risk.
Keep up the good work. You give the impression of someone who knows how to maintain his boundaries as well as being a terrific psychic. ~ your fan, Suzy

Do You Need a Psychic or a Psychiatrist?
Keep This Psychic Busy...Summer Special
Case Study From the Past...by request
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do You Need a Psychic.....or a Psychiatrist?
Much as I believe in the power of the psychic process, I also believe it has limits. Sometimes...maybe even often...it's difficult to know where the line is between the need for a psychic and the need for serious psychological counseling of some sort. Some of my very best coaching clients have been those seeing a psychologist at the same time. I could avoid the issues that needed analysis and concentrate on the coaching issues.
Recently I've had a spate of clients asking for readings that were really broader issues that need a counselor. One client called because she had been sexually abused by her father as a child and wanted me to do a reading and tell her how to get over it. Right! Something this traumatic and psychologically damaging cannot be overcome in an hour psychic reading. If it could, I'd be rich! "But my friend said you really helped her so I know you can help me." Not necessarily. In fact, with this kind of deep issue, I warn people that a reading may in fact cause more harm than good. It may stir up issues that are best left dormant until opened in front of a trained counselor. I learned this lesson the hard way decades ago when I opened a can of worms with a woman who became hysterical in my office. She now crosses to the other side of the street if she sees me downtown!
And when a client begins the conversation with "...and I won't go on any of those medications." Red flag! Obviously someone has suggested medication. A doctor?
Or as several have recently said, "I've been to other psychics and none of them understands me." Oops. Probably shouldn't have said that!
This is not to say the psychic process can't help people with counseling needs. Often in readings I've confronted serious issues and sent the client off to a counselor. But there's the point....I sent them off! I'm not qualified to treat those deep issues but I'm also not afraid to identify and suggest help. If a client has had a problem for a lifetime, such as addiction, depression, etc., they can't expect to be healed in a psychic reading with the waving of a magic wand, but would be better off if they sought on-going counseling.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUMMER SPECIAL 2-4-1
August being one of the slowest months of my psychic calendar year, I'm trying to drum up business to keep me from roaming the streets and getting into trouble. And God knows I'm not going anywhere in August since the Northwest is not having summer this year. (If it's too hot where you are, visit Portland where I turned the furnace on yesterday and am seriously thinking of buying pajamas.)
For any reading or email reading purchased through August you can have a second one FREE. Both must be used in August.
Perhaps for that partner who is afraid or skeptical?
Perhaps for a friend who can't afford it?
Perhaps for yourself so you can have two sessions and really make some progress!
Credit cards and deferred payments accepted.

A CASE STUDY....by Request
A long-term client asked that I reprint this, her favorite story, which in fact is my favorite story also! It has all the simple elements of a good reading and with a happy ending. I used this title as the title for a book I almost finished!
I See You on an Island in the South Pacific
When Paula, a woman in her thirties, came to me for a psychic reading, the first thing I noticed was her modest, almost drab appearance. She wore practical shoes and wire-rim glasses. Her lifeless, gray hair was tied back in a bun. Her face, pockmarked from adolescent acne, exhibited no energy or enthusiasm toward me, the psychic process or anything in life. How Paula got the gumption to even come for a psychic reading has always been a mystery to me.
But she did come, for advice on her career. She worked in the bowels of city hall, where she was employed in the accounting department as a computer analyst. According to Paula, she spent most of her time working. Like a human mole, she lived most of her days underground, only rarely experiencing the city or the sun.
This was the only information I had when I went into my mental "workshop" to watch the movies about Paula. I closed my eyes, went into my imaginary room, invited Paula in, and had her sit in a chair in front of me. Suddenly, I had the oddest sense that I was looking at Einstein! The overwhelming impression I had of Paula was that she was not just intelligent, but a true genius.
When I told her this, she tried to discount it but finally admitted she had an unusually high IQ. In fact, she had graduated first in her college class and not only worked with computers, but was in great demand as an analyst for the federal government. When it came to computers, Paula had the ability to do most anything, but it was clear that her present job was not bringing her happiness.
I returned to the "workshop" and waited for another picture to appear, but when one did, it was so amazing I thought it must be a mistake. Instead of a mousy woman, I watched as a vibrant, glowing girl bounded about the "workshop", dressed for the beach in shorts and a sleeveless top.
I had a difficult time calming the young woman down so I could watch the scenes unfold. Slowly, however, the images came. I saw her on a South Pacific island working with a group of very excited people. As I walked closer to the group, I could see they were digging in the sand and uncovering a portion of a very old foundation. It became clear that this was a group of archaeologists working on a dig. And Paula was part of the group!
I opened my eyes and watched the real Paula looking at me with great curiosity. She was obviously anxious to hear what I had to say, but I hesitated. What could the "workshop" scene have to do with this quiet woman? I returned to the "workshop," but the same scenes reappeared, this time in vivid color. The young woman in the scenes was ecstatic. The group loved her. The beach scenes were glorious, romantic, exciting.
I finally told Paula that I saw her working in the South Pacific on an archaeological dig. I told her all this with the very real fear that she would think I was crazy. Which is just what she did think!
"What in the world are you talking about!?" she demanded. "Are you from the moon or something? I came to you for advice on how to make the best use of my computer abilities and you're telling me you see me on an island?" She looked annoyed and perplexed.
I quickly dropped the subject and went on to other issues that I could see were troubling Paula, including her difficult relationship with her domineering mother. Paula seemed pleased with my suggestions, but before she left, I felt I had to return to what I saw as the most important topic.
"The images of the island were so clear and strong," I told her, "I would be very surprised if they were wrong."
Paula agreed to consider them, thanked me, and left.
During the next several days I often thought of her. There was something very compelling about her and the island pictures. I wondered what happened to her. Did she still think I was from the moon? Was she still buried in the basement of city hall? A month passed. Then one day I got a call from Paula.
"I just had to call and thank you," she said. "Your reading has had a tremendous impact on my life."
She admitted that the day she left me she had been very confused, even angry. Everything I told her made sense, except for the strange idea of her being on an island, which she couldn't stop thinking about. She was so distracted and upset that she decided to drive to the Oregon coast to sort things out.
There she found a large boulder overlooking the beach and she sat down. Most of the day she just sat there, crying. She was angry with me for exposing this picture, and with herself for having denied something she had always been interested in. Since she was a child, Paula had been fascinated with archeology, but had not even allowed herself to think about it. Somehow, the reading had broken through Paula's shell and brought all those memories back.
With a tremendous sense of excitement and enthusiasm, she left the beach and returned home to talk with friends about her rediscovered interest. She told them about the reading and the day at the beach. They, in turn, told her of some friends who were looking for assistants in an archeological dig in the Cook Islands in the South Pacific. When Paula told me this, a chill went up and down my spine and I felt her excitement through the phone. She began to cry and had a difficult time thanking me and telling me that she was, in fact, leaving to work on the Cook Island.
"When will you be leaving?" I asked.
"In about ten minutes!" she cried. She had packed her belongings and put everything in storage. At that very moment, she was sitting on her suitcase in her empty apartment, waiting for her friends to drive her to the airport. She had called to thank me and tell me what had happened.
Several months passed before I heard from Paula again. I was doing mini-readings in a bookstore when she suddenly appeared in the doorway. I'll never forget how she looked. A radiant, vibrant woman, she stood above me, her arms outstretched to give me a hug.
She was in town for only a few days, she said, to get rid of her furniture and see her mother. She would soon be flying back to Australia to be with a wonderful man she had met while working on the Cook Islands. He had asked her to move home with him and work with him developing new computer programs that could be used in archeology.
Paula and I only had a few minutes to talk, but the changes in her were obvious. She thanked me for my help, and I thanked her for having the courage to believe in the "workshop" and make the images come real. We were both teary eyed when she left, knowing she would not be coming back, that we would not see each other again, but we were also happy that she had discovered what it means to come to life and I discovered...or rediscovered yet again...the need to trust in my visions that are such a gift from the "workshop."

New Year's Resolution.....Now? What Gives?
How About a Quickie??
Are You the Driver or the Driven? The Cancer Card
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Summertime New Year's Resolution
As a Virgo you know I plan ahead, but this may seem beyond the pale!
But hear me out.
It is now exactly the middle of the summer and before you know it we'll be in fall and in the next breath you'll be talking about THE HOLIDAYS and then you'll be glad when they're done so you can get started on a new year's resolution to change your life. We all do this.
But maybe summer is a better time to do a major remodel of your life if such a change is in order. This is a more relaxed time and our minds are a little less frantic. September is the "back to school" time when we all get more serious about our lives, but by then it can be too late for some things, such as taking a college class, etc.
May I propose that if you are thinking of or hoping for a change in your career, your health, your relationship, now would be a good time to get some advice about that, to do some research on it, and to take action before the snow flies and you're too busy. Perhaps a reading could help clarify your choices. Maybe coaching could help hold your hand through change or kick your behind toward action. Think about it. Then call me. 503-295-9777.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

How About a Quickie?
Think of all the decisions and choices you have to make every single day. For most of those decisions, you have a ready answer. You know what you want or what's best for you. But then comes that crossroads kind of choice and you find yourself straddling the fence. Should you take that job offer? Buy which house? Date which of the two people you just met?
And then there are even more complex questions you may be stuck in answering. Why don't you have the relationship you desire? What kind of career would you really like? Why are you not feeling well?
So why are you making this so hard on yourself? A quickie email reading for $95 might change your mind and possibly change your life.
Just today I've received messages from two email readings. In one case the client appreciated my suggestions which rang true to her and she took action on several issues that were bugging her. And on the other hand, the second client heard the reasons behind my suggestion for her choice and that prompted new insights in her and she decided to do the opposite of what I had suggested. And that is the main point of having a reading. It's not so much about the reading be "right" as it is about the reading jarring you loose to make your own decision!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are You the Driver or the Driven?
The Chariot: Cancer Card
This is the Cancer card so Happy Birthday to you warm and wonderful ones! Cancers love home, coziness, and being emotional. Some of this is shown in the card where the Charioteer is within the protection of the chariot and is safe and secure.
This card is all about heading off into uncharted territory with excitement and also with fear. The chariot has left the walled city which represents the known and secure world and cannot go back but must go forward into the unknown. The chariot itself rides on an axle between two golden wheels representing fear and excitement. This is a major message from this card, that when we start something new we will face these two apparently contradictory feelings and we never quite know which one will show up. We are balanced between them both and they can change almost by the hour. Am I the driver....taking charge and going where I intended to go? Or am I the driven....being drawn somewhere I don't know that I want to go?
The weird little sphinxes aren't doing much to move this chariot and in fact you'll note that the driver doesn't even have any reins to guide them. So if they aren't moving him through time and space, what is?
It's the canopy overhead shown here with stars which are a symbol for "the unseen forces." More specifically, they are the unseen forces that YOU recognize and rely on, and this is one of the great lessons of this card in my opinion. Those ancient philosophers were very wise and very democratic! The cards never tell you what to believe....they just tell you to believe. So if lighting candles at the feet of the Virgin Mary works to guide your life, then light candles. If meditating all day in the lotus position works, then meditate. If dancing naked around the fire gives meaning to your journey, then dance...and take pictures and send to me.
The bottom line message of the card is that if you don't drive or power yourself on your chosen path, then you will be driven by unknown forces on a path that may...or may not!...appeal to you. The wheels of the chariot will move....you will have a life on Monday morning. But what kind of life you live that day should be chosen by you and achieved by using the unseen forces that work for you.

How Can Something so Good be so Bad?
The Sun Card: Summertime and the Living is Easy!
On the Website
Free is a Very Good Price
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOW CAN SOMETHING SO GOOD BE SO BAD?
I love metaphor. It's the primary way we learn as humans. So in this summer time with all the sun (for those of you living outside the cold, wet Northwest at least!!!) I think there is a good life lesson to be learned from the center of our solar system.
When I teach this Kaballah class on the Sun card (more on that in the next article) we always talk about how much sunlight we get in or on us in a day and how important sunlight is to us. In fact, we cannot live without it. We wouldn't even be here without it. So, obviously it's important to get as much sunlight on us as possible. Perhaps we should lie out in the sun all day long then.
But wait. That would be at least unhealthy and perhaps fatal. How can that be? We just agreed that sunlight is good, but it can be bad. Sounds confusing.
If we use this as a metaphor, perhaps there are other places in life where something good can also be something bad. Say, something like Work? Work is certainly good and we all need to make a living, but sometimes we overdo and work too much and this good thing becomes bad in our lives.
And what about relationships. We all want a loving relationship, so that's obviously a good thing. But if that's so, why do over 50% of my clients who are IN relationships want out?! Somehow some relationships turn out to be bad for us.
Let's drive this metaphor into the ground and say that if some sun is good for us but lots of sun is bad, then we use a sun screen so we moderate how much sun we get.
Might I propose that we also could use a "work screen" and a "relationship screen?" What would it look like? Does it come in a gel or a lotion? How often do you have to apply it?
These screens are really mental screens we put up between ourselves and the radiance of the work place or the romance. These things, just as the sun, can be too bright, too powerful, and overwhelm us. We need to have a barrier between us and the work or romance. We need to not give ourselves totally to them. Just as we wouldn't sunbathe all day, we won't allow ourselves to work all the time or give ourselves so totally to that bright romance that we lose ourselves.
Lather up! Take the day off. Go out with the boys or girls instead of the hot one.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE SUN CARD
Of all the cards in the Tarot, this has the widest divergence of meaning to it. It is the most fundamentally physical and yet also considered the most metaphysical or mystical card.
On the physical level, it speaks of very fundamental forms, such as the sun, and how it affects us on a cellular level. Thus, this card is called "Rejuvenation." There is much to be said of how those naked kids get sunlight into them and restore or rejuvenate their bodies. So when someone draws this card when asking a physical or health question, they might look to their cells and how well they are treating them. How close to the sun is their food, for example?
On the mystical level, this is the essence of the mystical process. A mystic is someone who receives insight or wisdom directly from "source," not through an intermediary such as a priest, teacher, etc. They "get it" from apparently nowhere. Ideas just appear in their mind. This is shown in the card where the children are so close to the sun, the "source," that they could touch it. They are being infused with good stuff from the sun directly and innocently, without other people or other notions to filter the information. If only we could all be as naked to the truth and as natural in receiving as they are!
But the information about this card doesn't stop here. There's more. And I personally find it a bit scary.
It's fairly easy for us to understand that information and insight can come from a source, just as light and heat come from the sun. But the very esoteric, hidden meaning behind this card suggests that this is not a one-way street but a two-way street. It suggests that what we think may travel back to the "source" and become part of it.
Ouch!
Could it be that the four-letter words I thought of that stupid idiot driver that cut me off today actually got recorded somewhere? Does it mean those really hateful things I thought and often said about George W. Bush are floating around somewhere and could be spreading nastiness through the universe?
To shift metaphors, since I just an hour ago got out of the pool at the gym, perhaps the "source" is like the pool. We're all floating in it and surrounded by it. Probably best not to pee in it then!

FREE IS A VERY GOOD PRICE
Two recent coaching clients said they found one of my exercises to be profound. Well, that's my word.....They may have said something like "helpful" or "good" or some such, but we'll go with "profound." I have found it so helpful in coaching clients that I offer it here for you for free.
This is the Values exercise I use at the beginning of the coaching process. The process is deceptively simple. You simply sit and tell me what you like for 8-10 minutes. You can say anything you like from "chocolate" to "motorcycles" to whatever. I listen intently and make some notes and when I stop you, I tell you in 4 or 5 words what I think you value in life. These values can be a starting point or sounding board for our coaching.
For example, one client who lived in a downtown condo and was on a plane 3 times per week told me what she liked and in return I told her that her first overwhelming value was Nature and the close second Animals. She certainly agreed, but was then confronted with the fact that her job and the job she was seeking had nothing to do with either of those primary values. The exercise was a mirror for her to see where she was and where she wasn't! It took her over a year, but she brought her career into alignment with her values.
What I propose for you is to offer a free exercise like that where we talk for 10 minutes on the phone and you tell me what you like and then I'll give you the 4 or 5 words that I feel represent your values. If you are in any kind of transition in your life, this is the first place to begin. . It can be a real mind-opener. And if you feel guilty about "using" me for free, you can always hire me as your coach....

Psychic Reading as a Vision Quest
Gemini Special: Two for one...for the Two of You!
Coaching Corner
----------------------------------------------------------------
USING THE PSYCHIC FOR VISION QUESTING
Clients come for a reading for a variety of reasons. For some there is "psychic blood." "Help! I need an answer to this situation by tonight!" For some there are serious decisions to be made about a career, relationship or health choice and a reading may help give new insights that make that decision easier. These are usually regular clients who come for a reading on a somewhat regular basis as the need warrants.
Then there is the small but potent group that I can best describe as "vision questers." I've recently had several in the office and only then realized they make up a recognizable group...bevy...flock. These people come very rarely....so rarely in fact that I often forget to classify them as clients. I sometimes worry that the reading wasn't helpful so I'll never see them again. But then to my surprise, they are back looking for more insight.
They often say something quite similar that helps me identify them as part of the group. They are not here for immediate or specific advice about a known situation. They are here to get a new vision for their future. When I ask what they want me to look at in my mental workshop, they almost always answer, "Just whatever you see. Tell me what new visions you have for me."
These peoples' lives seem to run in segments or plateaus. They get a new vision for their life and then they go out into the world and do what is necessary to bring that vision into reality. This may takes months or years to accomplish and I rarely see them during that time. Once they have attained that new level and either incorporated it into their lives or are looking to move beyond that level to something higher, then they come back to see what visions I can bring in from the ethers.
So keep the psychic process in mind for those many different kinds of help. I'm here for those immediate answers you need before you can sleep tonight. I'm here for those insights into choices you are working on. And I'm here to help suggest a whole new vision for your life and your work.

GEMINI SPECIAL
Happy Birthday to you Gemini. And Happy Birthday to you Gemini.
Gemini sign is the 'twins' sign or, from people less charitable than myself, the schizophrenic sign!
To let both of you celebrate I'm offering you a two-for-one special on any reading. You can give the other one to a friend or save it for a reading for your other self any time this year. Call 503-295-9777.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAKING CHOICES
The Gemini card...The Lovers
Here's a lesson for us all....Gemini or not.
Let me explain by showing the three cards that stand in this column in Tarot. The top card, working through the mechanism of the second card, produces the results in the third card. Stay with me now. It's not as complex as it sounds!
This is the "transformation" column in Tarot. The Lovers card is considered the most serious card in the deck. Forget calling it Lovers. It should be, and used to be called, The Choice. It shows the marriage of the man....conscious mind, with the woman...subconscious mind, suggesting that to make a major life choice you should NOT have any subconscious issues rattling around about the issue. All should be conscious.
Then you have the nasty looking Death card which is the transformation card. It's really the Birthing card...sunrise, twigs growing, and seed in the corner trying to sprout. It suggests that all those forces that want something to be born in you will burst forth as soon as you use the scythe and end something. This is often the sticking point in the process, too. I want a better job but I'd need to quit the one I have and that's scary. Or I want a better relationship but that means I'd have to give up the bad one I'm in and I'm afraid of the death of it. We're all afraid of death....the ending of anything....because we aren't sure of what's on the other side of it.
The bottom card is Judgement or resurrection....coming into a whole new life that is consciously chosen by you. And this is the good stuff!
So the three cards together say: if you want to make a major life choice you better have your subconscious issues about that choice brought to consciousness. And if you focus on the new beginning you envision, that will give you the courage to go through the death, or ending, that is necessary to allow the new to grow.
There. That wasn't so scary was it?!

COACHING CORNER
A Quick Freebie
One of the first major steps in the coaching process happens in filling out the coaching forms, which cost nothing and are at my website. www.donclarkson.com Even if you never hire me or any coach, you can do some free self-coaching just by answering the questions on the Intake Forms. Print the forms. Read them over. Set them aside for 24-48 hours and let the subconscious work on them. Fill them in quickly and see if some magic starts to happen. If not, call me!
POWER COACHING
If you find yourself needing a helping hand or a kick in the butt to accomplish some task, consider "Power Coaching" which is not the full coaching program but usually three or four sessions to help you finish that book, decide on that serious choice coming up, or whatever short-term issue is haunting you. Your Opinion Matters
Sample Class/Video
Coaching Corner...Free Tip
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
YOUR OPINION COULD MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
Taking a Poll of Readers
For over 20 years I've taught a popular class, the name of which I won't even repeat. (How's that for grammatical gymnastics to avoid ending the sentence with a preposition? An English major Dr. Malcolm could be proud of!) I've never been able to appropriately title the class on the use of the Tarot and Kaballah without suggesting I'm teaching people to be tarot readers. Nothing could be further from the truth. I am NOT a tarot card reader, yet I've studied and used the concepts for life-changing effects in me and students.
The class covers the 22 cards of the Major Arcana of Tarot and we spend 3 or more hours per week discussing one card per week. Each card has life concepts to discuss, tools and exercises to use about those concepts, and thoughts for reflection on life issues.. I've taught this long course over twenty times and usually have one or more person come back a second or even third time. Students often say it compares to a college class.
The problem with the class is the cost, for some people, and the major commitment of time for others. Thus, I have not offered it during this recession and yet I still get people begging me to offer it again.
I'm working with my webmaster, a Tarot lover himself, and we're thinking of putting the class on videos that could be purchased individually for a very low price. You could buy one or more, possibly with a discount for buying them all.
We've had fun so far thinking of doing it and "taking the show on the road" in the sense that we would film the class in different locations that would help illustrate the card's concepts. I would also have "hand-outs" of exercises, poetry, etc. on my website for you to download and use. There would in most classes be outside speakers that I would interview, such as an astrologer to talk about which sign this card rules, or a medical person to discuss the body aspects of each card, and perhaps a shaman to teach about its metaphysical aspects.
When I think back to the first classes, I have spent several HUNDRED hours researching the cards, finding poems and other material to help illustrate the concept, and developed my own tools, such as the cube and grape cluster, to help students and clients make changes in their lives. I hate to have all that work and effort go to the grave with me! Not that I'm feeling sickly mind you, but....
For an example of the kind of things each class covers, read about the Hermit card class below.
If you would be interested in buying such a series, please let me know. If there isn't much interest, I don't want to spend several hundred more hours and dollars for naught! But if there is interest, I'd love to produce a product that could help viewers change their lives.
Send me a note if you're interested. donclarkson@comcast.net
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SAMPLE CLASS
Let me illustrate what a class/video would cover by going over the best card in the deck....the Virgo card! Being a Double Virgo, I know this stuff well!
The video would go over the obvious symbols, which in this case surprises students. It appears that the Hermit is on top of a mountain with snow-capped mountains all around. That is the "external" explanation, the "uninitiated" explanation. And it works, in that the Hermit card is about attaining a pinnacle experience..."attaining the knowledge of your heart's desire." This is where you find that you really wanted to be a nun and now you spend the rest of the card system becoming that.
But then there is the "internal" explanation for those of us who have studied the system. Now don't tell anyone this....It's supposed to be just for "initiates." The Hermit is really inside the folds of the upper intestinal track! This card is all about the assimilation process. How does food that starts outside the body actually become part of the body? And what is the secret to this process that you can use to transform yourself? 'Nuff said. That's secret stuff that I'll only reveal in the video.
We spend much time in this class talking about the proper selection of food. I often have a nutritionist talk to the group. Then we do exercises on visualizing just what you would want that food....energy....to create in your life.
Very mystical and yet practical class!

----------------------------------------------------------------
THE COACHING CORNER
A Free Tip For You
Here's a tip many or most of my coaching clients use. I only wish I remembered to use it more often myself!
I say I'm going to the beach at least once a month, and yet the last time I drove there I passed a huge building on the freeway that wasn't there before. Adding it up, I hadn't been to the beach in six months. How can time get away like that? How can this be another Monday and I did nothing exciting over the weekend?
I suggest to many clients they sit down with their calendar, and their partner if they have one, and plan the week ahead. Thursday seems to be the best day. Get the local paper with all the coming attractions so you don't hear yourself say, "Damn...So and So was in town Saturday and I didn't know it!" You can plan the weekend and the next week so you SCHEDULE those things you never seem to get around to. Pencil in "Beach" or "concert" or "hike by the lake."
You'll be surprised that over time you soak up much more life than you might have without this little 20 minute planning session!
If you have interest in more formal life-coaching, remember I'm happy to discuss it and even do a sample session for free! Call me. 503-295-9777

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
YOU CAN'T TICKLE YOURSELF
People often suggest that because I can predict the future, my life must run perfectly. Au contraire! I have never been able to look into my future with accuracy beyond mere chance. And I don't know of many, if any, practitioners of metaphysics who can look at themselves. My analogy is that we can't tickle ourselves and we can't read ourselves.
But does this stop the innocent and naive from trying? Not at all...and often to their own detriment.
Probably once a month I hear someone say, "I play with the Tarot." OMG I think. For me this is comparable to saying, "I like to play in the freeway," or "Let's play with this grenade." Maybe I'm just being resentful. I've spent thirty years actively studying the Tarot and still consider myself a novice so I resent someone who buys a deck of cards at the bookstore and goes around terrifying neighbors with "readings." And the most annoying is when they say they got an intuitive "hit" on what the cards mean. I don't think so! The cards have an ancient, historical, and metaphoric meaning that you better know before you start adding your own personal twist to them. I'm reminded of seventh grade boys in my prep school English classes who, when I contested their interpretation of a book, would say, "Well, it's just the way I see it. I can interpret it anyway I want."
"Two demerits you little twerp, and straighten that tie when you argue with Mr. Clarkson!"
I think we all do ourselves a disservice when we try to become our own practitioner. We mostly don't act as our own attorney or doctor, yet we interpret our own astrological chart based on the horoscope printed in the daily paper. Some even hear the voice of God spoken through angels and spirit guides and the like and the curious thing is that these voices often tell the listener just what they wanted to hear! That in itself ought to be a huge caution and send them running to a neutral practitioner.
In short, don't trust yourself when you "play" with metaphysics. If you do, at least keep honest score. How often did that voice tell you truth? How often were your tarot readings accurate? No cheating now...be honest!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
STATING THE OBVIOUS
I get used to how I work and forget that not everyone knows what I know about my practice! Following are some of the obvious things you may not know:
*I do psychic readings and coaching in my Portland, Oregon office, or on the phone around the country, or on Skype in the US and in foreign countries. (So far England, France, Columbia, Australia, Mexico, Canada, and Utah!)
*I take cash, checks, or credit cards for payment.
*If payment is an issue, and it often is in this economy, I'm happy to take deferred payments that fit your budget.
*Talk is free. I'm happy to discuss what is involved in a psychic reading or discuss your coaching needs and how I work as a coach. I'm happy to do a free sample coaching session if you're still not convinced.
*I do many talks around the area with topics like the Tarot, Kaballah, some ancient tools I use such as grape clusters and cubes, or general discussions on how the psychic thing works....as if I knew!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE TAURUS CARD
Yet another card that can scare the uninitiated! And that's exactly what its overt purpose was...to mislead.
The Hierophant himself looks like the Pope in Rome, and that is the intention. Imagine if you will, you're living in the Middle Ages in Europe and watching people being roasted over open flames for having done god-knows what. You are walking around with a deck of Tarot cards in your purse. What if you're caught with obvious heretical instruments? You just pull up the Hierophant card and show the Pope. In short, this is your "Get Out of Jail Free" card, quite literally.
Of course, the joke was on them, because, as with all the cards, the actual meaning is the opposite of the picture and in this case the Pope is actually referred to as the "inner pope." This is the voice of intuition....that inner authority that carries the power and authority of the Pope in Rome. Of course, you're not going to tell that to the Inquisition when they want to burn your feet over the fire! It will be our little secret...and in fact WAS secret for many centuries.
The Hierophant holds up his finger saying, "Shhh...be still and listen." Listening to that inner voice of intuition can be very difficult in this noisy world. I think it best to have a practice of some kind where you are intentionally silent and sit with a question on your mind waiting for the answer to come.
And perhaps here is the place to try and define Intuition. People often refer to me as being intuitive and I rush to say I'm not so in the least. I constantly walk into brick walls and ask, "Where in the hell did that come from?" From my perspective, being intuitive is being in a feeling state....you get feelings that something is right. Being psychic to me is a very different process and comes from the left or rational brain whereas intuition comes from the right side or emotional side of the brain. My psychic process has nothing to do with feelings and emotions but is all about pictures. I only wish I could be intuitive and get a sense of what the correct course is, but alas I'm apparently a nonemotional clod who is stuck with pictures only!

COACHING CORNER
(I constantly write about the need to contact your subconscious and I preach and teach about that process in my visualization classes and video. The following is from a new coaching client who has fully adopted this method of dialoguing with her "inner child" and has come up with a very detailed and clever system that is working wonders for her. You might take the idea and see if it works with you and your little child! If you need help meeting that child and learning to dialogue, I can teach you in one session.)
So here I am, faced with three issues that have plagued me my entire adult life (actually, I've been a sugar addict since childhood). Don encouraged me to dialogue with Lowself, whom I visualize as my inner child. I have recognized at some level that problems in these three areas have to do with her stomping her feet and saying, "You can't make me clean my room! I'm going to eat whatever I want! I want to buy it NOW!" He suggested I bargain with her, for example, "If we go without sugar all week, we can have ice cream on Friday night". To my surprise, when I asked her what she wanted, she said, "I want you to hold me." I was stunned. I got a strong picture of me holding her in a rocking chair (and I don't happen to have one--yet). I was struck by how all my issues, which are really process addictions, come out of a childhood where, as one of 10 children, I didn't get a whole lot of attention, and that this little girl really doesn't want to eat sugar as much as she wants to be loved.
I've recently increased my income, and my plan was to pay down the debt as fast as possible, and then start saving for a trip, but she started stomping her feet again. She made it clear that she wanted me to prove to her that my promise to take her to Europe is serious. I proposed to her that we would start saving for our trip right away, at the same time that I'm paying off the debt. She wanted to know how much I would save, and I put it right back to her, saying that I would pay her a point, equal to a dollar that will go into savings, for every day that we make the bed right after getting up, and a point for every day that we don't eat sugar, and a point for every day that the dining room table is clutter-free at bedtime. Notice that the points relate to the very issues on which she has been resistant. She absolutely loved the idea, and wanted to know how else she could earn points. So, we added a point for every day that the kitchen is clutter-free at bedtime, and a point for every 15 minutes spent walking. A point for every day that we deal with the mail right away, and don't let it accumulate. A point for every 15 minutes dealing with the backlog of paper clutter. A point for every day that we don't eat after 7:30 p.m. (a glass of wine or soda is ok!) A critical aspect of this plan is that there is no requirement that we earn any points at all, and no judgement for not doing something on the list (and it's grown to include all of the rooms in the house, points for cleaning, points for taking out the recycling, points for folding and putting away the laundry while it's still warm, points for unloading the dishwasher right away). Every two weeks on payday, we total the points and deposit the money into a special savings account, and the rest of the surplus goes toward the debt. I created a spreadsheet to list all the activities and keep track of the points. Every night before bed we add up the points. We're averaging 13-15 points per day.
The beauty of this process has been the shift from resistance to eagerness. It has significantly improved my self-esteem. I no longer live in fear of drop-in guests. I have more physical energy. I have a fierce love for my inner child, and a recognition that she is very wise, and knows that she doesn't want to be indulged; she wants to be loved and acknowledged.

"IT'S SOOO EMBARRASSING!"
Embarrassment seems to skulk around the psychic process and probably even more than I'm aware of. I'm sure the embarrassment factor has kept many hundreds of potential clients away, but even so I hear it from more than one existing client each month.
One fear rarely expressed is the worry that I will snoop into areas the client doesn't want exposed. "There are issues in my life I don't want you to know about. How can I know you won't go there?" Actually, you won't know that for sure, but trust me, there is enough drama in the readings I do that I don't need any more. And if there's something titillating or pornographic, I can find all that I need on the Internet. Or so I've been told...
Clients often hesitatingly say, "There's a really personal issue I'd like you to look at. I assume this is all confidential?" Indeed it is. Nothing leaves the four walls of my office. And could they talk! I make a point of never discussing who comes to see me or what we discuss. If I do refer to clients by name in an article, they have approved the article. And I've had a couple angry husbands threatening the cops or a punch in the nose if I didn't reveal what their wife told me, but I was bigger than they are and not afraid.
The greater fear is in those people who don't come for a reading for fear of being "exposed naked" as one woman recently said. They usually have never been to a psychic before and are afraid I'm going to tell them they will be run over by a train next Thursday. I try to tell these scaredycats that the reading is really controlled by them. If they don't want to talk about their marriage or affair then we move on to another issue.
Embarrassment often keeps existing clients from referring friends and family to me because they don't know how it will be taken. Will the friend back up thinking they are crazy? Will they tell the whole family my client has gone off a cliff? And this is a very real fear I think. We never really know the context in which someone else hears this kind of news. They may think a psychic worships the devil or dances naked around the fire, so for them the fear is well-founded.
And last but not least....don't think the psychic doesn't get embarrassed from time to time! I have on occasion blushed while telling someone I thought they were having an affair. I blushed more in fear when I told a woman I saw police taking her husband away from their barn. I suspected he was growing pot. He was...and they did! Or the most embarrassing of all was the woman who recently came and said, "Take a look at the pain in my upper back; also look at my left knee that's been bothering me; and if you have time, take a look at my vagina." For that I charge extra. $10,000 extra.
----------------------------------------------------------
FREE READINGS
Now that I have your attention....
Any coaching client receives free readings at any time during our relationship. Coaching hopefully brings about changes and there are new choices to be made, so there is often the need for on-going readings.
Many people think they can solve a major problem by having a psychic reading when in fact the situation needs more attention and on-going focus that a coach can bring. You can read more about coaching at the website or call to discuss your needs.
And don't forget that I offer "Power Coaching" which is usually about four sessions on a very focused topic. I've had clients who needed some hand-holding and butt-kicking to finish a book they were writing; another client who took three sessions to decide and proceed with a divorce; a couple who worked on deciding whether or not to adopt a child. Let's discuss your needs. 503-295-9777

PARTY BOI
Virgos are not known to be very good party bois....
And Double Virgos tend to stand in the corner staring at their shoes.

BUT....a Psychic could enliven your party with readings for your guests, or simple Tarot readings, or even a talk on the psychic process. You might be surprised how interested people in your social group, club, or neighborhood might be in the process. Call for details.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
THE EMPEROR....The Aries Card
Happy Birthday to the Aries readers...and to the Aries part of us all!
I can't count the number of times in my Tarot class when a student asked a question of the Tarot, pulled a card then moaned when they got this card. "Oh damn! Can I draw again?" they often ask.
No, actually, you may not draw again....you're stuck with this, the Voice of Reason. This is the masculine side of us all; the left brain; the practical, down to earth, nuts-and-bolts part of us.
Who wants to hear that?!
Indeed, we would all rather play on the Empress side of us, the right brain, the creative juicy part of us. But playing in the imagination is only half the process and at some point we need to come down to earth and get practical, put structure and order to our dreams, and get on with it. What good are dreams if we never make them come true? But what good is hard work and focus when we have no dream to work on? So we need BOTH sides of our brain and both aspects of our personality to make dreams come true.
Notice the Emperor is covered in steel-plated armor. That keeps "the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune" from hurting him and more importantly it keeps emotions from the Empress side of him from getting under his skin. But the armor also helps hold him in....keeps him from getting mushy by too much contact with the outside world. So our armor works both ways...keeping others out and holding ourselves within. We need to "steel ourselves" to do the work the rational side of the brain has decided on to complete the dreams the imaginative side of the brain drew up. A true Marriage of the Minds!

HEARING FROM GOD/DESS
In the past month I've probably had four people ask me to tune into the ethers and find out what God or their Soul has planned for them. Sadly, my cell phone provider area doesn't go nearly that far!
But all joking aside....Asking a psychic to find out that kind of information may not be a bad idea. You can or should be able to hear the answer yourself, but often we as humans have blocked the message and someone on the 'outside' may be in a better position to listen.
Let me explain with the Tarot.
The Lovers card clearly explains the entire concept. This card is actually called "The Choice" and is considered the most serious card in the deck because it's all about hearing what "God" wants for you.
Take a look at the card. Notice the largest Sun in all of Tarot that is behind the angel. It represents "God" or "Source" or what I call The Urging. It is the force that urges you to be something that is different from what is urging me.
The angel represents your Higher Self....the connection to the Divine or Source.
Then notice the woman, who represents your subconscious, looks up to the higher self and the man, who represents conscious mind, looks to the woman. This is one of the most important concepts in all of Tarot and, curiously enough, in Huna, Hawaiian mysticism.
What it's really saying is that your conscious mind hears from "God" through your Higher self but also through your subconscious. And there's the rub! Your subconscious, viewed as a child in Huna, may have all kinds of nasty ideas in it that limit you from hearing the clear voice that came through your Higher self.
"Good boys don't do that." "Girls aren't good at that." "You're not smart enough for that."
Scary! In effect the child-like subconscious is a FILTER through which the voice of God travels, and if you have nasty programs in the subconscious, you'll never hear what God has planned for you! According to Huna, our main job as humans is to retrain the subconscious so we don't have those nasty programs blocking the messages from the ethers. It's a life-long process!
Often I believe someone such as a psychic who does not have your particular subconscious blocks can look more directly at you and give clearer insights into what "Source" has planned for you. At least you could use this outside channel until you've cleared your own subconscious and are getting all the messages directly and clearly.
Use me until your cell phone provider has a much broader range....

NO MORE TECHNOLOGY PLEASE!
Explaining Skype for Beginners
My stomach does a small flip; my hands get sweaty; I have to go to the bathroom ...twice. I'll do anything to avoid yet another program to download and try to understand and use. When I rule the world, software will be really easy to use.
Maybe that day is here, when it comes to Skype. This is a very popular program you are seeing nearly every time you watch the news. Reporters from all over the world file video stories through Skype. This is Dick Tracy come true, for those of you who remember the comic strip.
Skype is a very simple program that lets you communicate with someone through video and audio and all free of charge! You can talk to Mom in another state; a lover across town; your coach or psychic from wherever you are. You can even talk to others in foreign countries. And all for free!!
All you need is a simple camera if it's not already built into your laptop, and they start at about $20 at your local computer store. Setting one up is very simple as is downloading the Skype program. Try it! Go here to download.

Now let's do some readings or coaching LIVE!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ADD....IS IT EVERYWHERE?
Do You Have it? Is it Coachable?
I can't add high enough to count all the clients I've had who have some form of ADD. And yes, it makes one wonder if it's being over diagnosed. I'd never even heard of it twenty years ago, so where did all these people come from? And is this just the "syndrome du jour" that neurotics have come up with? I've asked myself all these kinds of questions and finally have something of an answer.
In my opinion, it is a very real problem damaging millions of lives. Of course, the people who come to me are not "average." These are people who have questions, problems, issues to deal with, so any numbers are already skewed. But I have sent dozens and dozens of clients off to be formally tested and all have come back with a diagnosis of ADD except for one person. There must be something to this. There is one new study that suggests it may be caused by children under two watching television. It may alter their brain electrical pathways. Other studies have suggested it may be our diet. Just this very day there is a new report that food coloring may cause ADD in children.
There are many sites online where you can read about ADD and even take a test to see if you have it. There are many different characteristics because there are six different forms of it. So be careful if you say to yourself, "My neighbor has ADD and I'm nothing like they are, so I don't have ADD." The forms at either end of the spectrum are the opposite of each other so you may be very different from your neighbor and still have it! Do a Google search on ADD and read about it and then do a Google for "ADD self test." There are several options to choose from.
Here are some of the characteristics I've come to recognize in my clients. I often ask when I suspect ADD how they feel about clutter. If you don't like clutter but still have it, that can be a sign of a problem. Many people live in clutter and don't care. People with ADD have it but hate it!
Many suffers also have a life-long history of not being satisfied with careers; changing jobs; changing relationships; not finishing projects. Classic ADD symptoms.
And many or most of my clients with ADD are very creative visually. They are often very artistic; love to paint or sketch; are good at decorating or graphic arts; may be writers but with unusual visual abilities.
If any of this rings true and if you're feeling frustrated with your life not progressing, do some investigating into ADD. And yes, there is hope if you have it! I took special training to coach people with ADD because I felt frustrated in helping them. There are also medications that help some people. There is a diet designed for ADD. And there are simple behavior tools that I have found very helpful with a number of my clients. So don't despair if you have it. Find out if you do, what form you have, and what the treatment options are.

Unsolicited Self-promotion Email
"Yes Dear Don, it's me. AGAIN! You know I can't live without you in my life for long! Now I need your help once again with my career. I just got laid off, which frankly was fine by me. But now I want to look for something new....maybe a whole new career. I want to reactivate our coaching so I can get lots of free readings on where I can go next!
And now that I think of it....do you remember how much we've been through together? I think we started ten years ago when I was thinking of getting married. So glad you approved of that by the way! (As I remember, you called him HOT and I still agree.) Then we worked for months on moving into my current career; then you helped me move that career across the country along with the husband; then you helped me through the process of deciding and having a baby; and don't forget the book you told me to write that sits on our shelves!
When can we start dear friend?"

HOW A PSYCHIC HELPS WRITERS
When innocent Sally came for her first-ever psychic reading, I said, "I see you writing a book. Not only that but the book will be easy to write and very easy to get published."
"Are you from the moon?" she asked. "I'm not a writer."
Even I had trouble believing it, especially the part about getting published. A month went by and Sally returned to explain that she realized her 30 year career with the state had taught her much that she should share. She began with a simple two-page outline which she boldly sent to one agent and to her surprise, and mine, the agent called her and begged to represent the book! The agent sent the short outline to the top three publishers in New York and they all wanted it and started a bidding war. Sally accepted a $60,000 advance so she could quit her job for a year and write the book, which now sits on my bookshelf. Without the psychic input, she never would have realized the potential in herself and bookshelves around the country would be the barer for it.
During the thirty years I've worked as a psychic, I've done several thousand readings for clients around the country on every topic from romance to health issues, from career advice to financial problems, but I hold a special place in my psychic heart for the nearly 100 writers I work with regularly. They come for advice on finding agents and publishers; for suggestions on which topic would "sell" the quickest; for simple pats on the back for encouragement. "It's just nice to share some of the frustration with a fellow writer," one client recently said.
Recently two women came for some psychic insight because they were writing a book together and felt stuck, a common experience for writers God knows! In the reading the information was very clear. This is not a book....this is a project. The book is merely the first step in a much larger endeavor that includes workshops, workbooks, and more. When I presented them with these ideas they both stared at me speechless. Oops. Had I crossed some line? Once they caught their breath, they burst out laughing. Both had been thinking exactly what I presented but were afraid to tell the other. As one woman said, "Thank God there's one person in the room who isn't afraid to be honest!" Honesty is a hallmark for any reading!
To be sure, a psychic reading should never replace your own good judgment, common sense, and intuition, but it can be another point of view from a slightly different angle that just might make a difference in your life or your writing.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT KIND OF COACH DO YOU WANT?
I'm used to wearing several hats...juggling several balls...spinning more than one plate. Perhaps that helps me to adjust my coaching style to the individual. If you know what kind of approach you want, I'm more than happy to try to accommodate.
Some clients like "butt-kicking" coaching. They know where they want to go but don't go without a bit of prodding or a carrot held in front of them. I can do that.

Other clients want a softer hand-holding approach. I can speak softly and bat my "London blue" eyes at them and draw them to their goal.
A few clients want me to do everything for them, and here we get into trouble. Some people think the psychic coach will tell them what their goal should be and my magic powers will magically send them there. Coaching is a process, not an event, and a process where we work together for YOU to decide YOUR goal. My job is to help you get there on a weekly basis.
And of course there is the occasional client who thinks I'm God and I simply refer them on:

If you'd like to sample any of those or other coaching styles, I'm happy to do a free coaching session. Just give me a call to get started. 503-295-9777
----------------------------------------------
THE STAR.....Pisces Card
One of my favorite cards! There are so many good lessons to be learned here. And that's just what the woman in the card is doing....learning....learning from two sources. She gazes into the pond which represents her own subconscious. We all have a huge watery reservoir of history in our subconscious to draw upon. But that big yellow star hanging overhead suggests there is big news outside of her that is not common to her until she accepts the insight and lets it into her. That's why she is portrayed as naked. Open to the naked truth.
The other seven white stars represent the chakra system in eastern mysticism or the endocrine system in western mysticism. They are one and the same. It's amazing the number of clients who pull this card when they have something seriously wrong with their endocrine system!
This is also the "reflection" or meditation card, but it describes western guided visualization, not the eastern form of meditation where you work to make the mind go blank. This is a specific process for a specific question resulting in a specific answer. Very helpful in finding out what your own subconscious thinks about an issue and also a connecting device to find out what insight that Star (source) has to say.

OFFICE SHARING
What is the effect of the following factors on my practice?
Over 50% of my clients live out of state.
Local clients, especially on-going coaching clients, figure a one hour session kills about three hours with drive and parking time.
Skype makes me seem like I'm in the same room!
The result is I'm in my downtown office only a couple days per week because I do the phone and Skype readings from my home office high above Portland.
If you need an office in Portland on a part-time basis, we should talk! I'm right in the city center near Nordstroms and on the light rail. Call me. 503-295-9777

The Infallible Psychic!
Predicting the Future...Case Study

The Chariot....Heading Out
------------------------------------------------------------------
The Infallible Psychic
You suspected it all along...admit it. But here is proof your psychic is now infallible. The following brief article appeared in the New York Times, so you know it's true.
"A month after the authorities began taxing Romania's witches and fortunetellers on their trade, Parliament is considering a new bill that would subject them to fines or even prison if their predictions do not come true. Superstition is taken seriously in Romania, and officials passed the tax bill in an effort to increase revenues. The new bill would also require witches to have permits and provide their customers with receipts, and it would bar them from practicing near schools or churches. Witches argue they should not be blamed for the failure of their tools. "They can't condemn witches; they should condemn the cards," said Bratara Buzea, a "queen witch."
You can't blame my vision....blame the screen in my mental "workshop." Or blame the Tarot cards if you ever pull one. The psychic is now infallible! Spread the word.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PREDICTING THE FUTURE
Yet again a couple people have asked me to explain how it's possible to predict the future. I can't explain it. Really. I have no idea how it works. And it doesn't always work which tells me "God" isn't doing it. "She" would be consistent at least!
In fact, for the first ten years of doing psychic readings, I warned people that I do NOT predict the future but just deal with the present and the past. I figured it was wondrous enough that I could tell your mother left you in a snow bank or you really wanted to be a cop. People seemed satisfied with that kind of reading.
But then one day quite by accident, it happened. Mary came for a general reading. I knew her to be single and yet I saw that she was dating a man. "For five years," she explained. But I asked, "How do you explain his wife in my imaginary workshop? It is his wife, isn't it? And she seems really pissed about it."
Gulp. Hem, haw. She admitted that the man was married but his wife certainly didn't know about their affair.
Odd. In my workshop, I see her going ballistic. I see her throwing objects around the room. I see someone restraining her. I see cops coming. I see an ambulance! How exciting and dramatic, but apparently just my over-active imagination. Mary assured me his wife didn't know.
That was on a Wednesday.
On Thursday I get a frantic call to schedule an emergency reading. After five years, it was last night that the wife found out about the affair and went ballistic. She was a devout Catholic who decided God had forsaken her, so she went to her church and threw altar pieces around the church. The priest restrained her, called the cops and they called an ambulance and took her to the psych ward.
Wow...what a lucky guess on my part!
But Mary was so impressed that she asked more questions. What about her daughter's forthcoming marriage? How would it work out?
Hum....let me see. I don't think it will last a year, frankly. And the odd picture I see is of the two of them in her car being hit in the right front fender by a red car. But the car drives off. My advice to tell her daughter was to be sure to NOT let her fiancé be driving. For some reason that really bothered me.
A week later, sure enough. They are hit in the right front fender by a red car that drives off. Of course Mary didn't tell them about my prediction. Who would admit going to a psychic?! He WAS driving, the cops did come, and when they checked his record his license had been suspended and now insurance wouldn't pay for the damage.
Oh yes, and the marriage only last six months!
Obviously, those predictions were way beyond "coincidence." But how I could see them is beyond me. I spent several years reading explanations that never really made sense. "Angels" were feeding me the information? I tuned into some kind of parallel universe? I tuned into some "record" of information stored up in the sky? The illusive explanation drove me crazy for years until I finally took my friend Diana's sage advice. "Just shut up and do it!"

TALK IS CHEAP. I'M FREE!
I have a new talk I'm peddling around town so if you know of a group that could use an interesting speaker, let me know. The new talk is broader. I call it Metaphysics 101. How can metaphysics help you? I discuss three practitioners.....astrologers, shamans and psychics. I can aim the talk to a specific group, for example writers, seniors, and business people. I can give illustrations from that group experience to explain how a novice could benefit from seeing a metaphysical practitioner. Call me if you think your group would be interested. 503-295-9777.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HEADING OUT
If you had a New Year's Resolution last month, and if you really are sticking to it, then you are probably in the same position as the man in the Chariot. Excited and scared! He left the security of the walled city that offered protection and familiarity for the open road. He's left and cannot go back and so at this stage he is still excited about a new adventure but that old protected place pulls him back.
The chariot has two wheels. One is fear and the other is excitement and on your journey you may never know where you are on the axle! One day...one hour....you're more toward the excitement and then suddenly you move over to the fear side. The message of the card is that THIS IS NORMAL. In fact, unless it becomes overwhelming, that fear you feel is FUEL for your excitement. It enervates you and drives you forward on your new path.
And what about those curious critters who are no longer pulling the chariot but are just lazing around? They represent the sense world...the "real" world...and they don't work. In truth, it is the blue canopy overhead that is the motivating force in the picture. It is the forces over head that really drive you on to your new goal.
If we really believe this then it behooves us to get in touch with those forces in whatever way works!

If you find yourself constantly scratching your head or staring into space saying "What the f___?!" over your fellow humans' beliefs, always consider the following statistics as an explanation:

25% of Americans do not know from whom we gained our independence on July 4, 1776.

The Lovers Tarot Card

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FINDING LOVE THE EASY WAY
I can't tell you the dozens, maybe hundreds, of clients over the past thirty years who have come to me for help finding romance. Nearly all of them say the same thing, just in different ways. "My case is different or special. It's impossible for me to find true love because of......." I always smile inside because the fact that they are in my office says they really don't believe that. If finding love were impossible they wouldn't be asking me about it!
I remember the client who came for a reading and I said, "I'm afraid I have bad news for you. I think you're about to have a relationship."
"Why Mr. Clarkson, that's wonderful news!"
"Not for you....you who just said you've had four physically abusive relationships. Do you really want Number Five?"
"Well, I'm asking for a relationship but not an abusive one."
Your mouth and conscious mind may be saying that but apparently there is a subconscious pattern in you that quietly and secretly seeks out abusers.
If you don't have the romantic love you think you're seeking, there is a very simple solution and I suggest you read the last article here on the Lovers Card for the secret!

VALENTINE'S DAY
A fresh approach from a client....
For many years of my life I was one of those people who wanted to get the flowers, romantic dinners, etc. for Valentine's Day and seemed to come up empty handed and resentful of those who got what I did not...then, I reworked V-Day in my own head...V-Day is really a time to tell people that you love/appreciate them in your life and that you hold positive feelings and wishes for them. It is not just a day for "the one and only." Now, I have fun with the day, looking forward to surprising my co workers and friends with silly or old fashioned cards, small treats and warm feelings during a time of year that can still be quite cold.....focusing on giving and being active feels SO much better than passively wishing and hoping...and I do get a lot back! I needed to challenge the story line I had been sold and be more flexible in how I can feel and express love....

COACHING BOOSTER SHOT
Attention Past Coaching Clients
This is directed at all the people I've coached over the past 16ish years. Can it be that long? Can it be that many? From the looks of the file cabinet drawer I'm guessing somewhere around 250 past clients.
I wanted to remind you that if you are feeling like you could use a booster shot in your coaching....or perhaps new issues have come up and you could use some guidance...consider jumping back into the coaching model. You do NOT have to start with a new Intake fee but can just resume at the same rate when you left.
Often only 3 or 4 sessions are needed to get you back on track. Call me to discuss if you're interested. 503-295-9777

THE LOVERS
How appropriate for February? Actually, this card traditionally has nothing to do with romantic love....except when it does, as in our case! It's a Valentine's Card today. This is considered the most "serious" card in the deck and a full explanation would take three hours, so let me summarize for our purpose. It applies to all who are looking for love...possibly in all the wrong places.
The huge sun represents God or Source or Impulse. You choose a name for it. But it sends down a message from On High to the angel who represents your Higher Self. But then note the woman, who represents your subconscious, looks to the angel while the man, your conscious mind, looks to the woman. In all of Tarot and Kaballah, this is one of the most important concepts.
In short....messages from God/dess are filtered through the subconscious BEFORE they get to the conscious mind....if they get there at all. OUCH! Whether or not you hear the clear message depends on that child-like part of you that is often scared from past experiences. You mean to say....my messages from God have to get through a gate-keeper who is a child? Indeed, it's true. So, the point here is....you better be on really, really good terms with your subconscious so you hear messages appropriately.
I often see this process with coaching clients. The client may come in for help to become a nurse, but in a reading and with the client's own work with their subconscious, we discover that being is nurse is a "should" that was put in the mind by someone else. What the client really wants to be in an artist, but someone along the way said that would stupid. The child-like subconscious picks up on that and forever after will block any message about being an artist. I frankly think this is the primary purpose of coaching, and perhaps even psychic readings....to get past the old messages being held by the subconscious and get to High Self and find out what the original message was.
If you're looking for love and finding the opposite, you don't need to go to God and give Him/Her a clearer message; you don't need to pray to your Higher Self or other entities. You just need to "clear the path" with your own subconscious so you're hearing the Truth that's being radiated down on you. For a simple way to learn to do this you can go to my website and look at the visualization video which teaches this very process. Or go find another process that works for you. Do something get past old scripts and hear what's really being sent to you.

THE JADED PSYCHIC
or All in a Day's Work
I recently had lunch with a couple friends who have loved hearing of the psychic stories from my practice. "What's the latest exciting story from the other side," they asked. I drew a blank. I couldn't think of any dramatic life-changing story to tell and they were sorely disappointed.
Back at my office, I sat there for several minutes trying to think of a story. Have my clients become boring? Have I become boring??? In some fairly serious distress, I went to my appointment book and reviewed the clients I'd seen in the past two weeks. And there it was. The ugly truth. I had become jaded! I had become desensitized.
There was the man whose affair I predicted would create a disastrous house of cards, which had just collapsed on him. Too bad he didn't listen.
There was the married woman having a long-term affair with a man...the same man with whom another married client was having an affair. What are the odds?? How deliciously juicy!
There was the long-time client thanking me for being in her life for 20 years or so who claims to have kept...and threatens to listen to!...all the taped readings we've done.
There was the woman who came very reluctantly, pushed by a friend, because she was at her wits end over a young child's mysterious illness. She came for a checkup but mainly to say I had nailed the problem and the child is flourishing in school.
There was the desperate client weeping into the phone claiming I was the only person on earth who could understand her problem and give her the solution. (I couldn't...and wouldn't.)
Ho hum....all in a days work! But such a days work as most people don't have, so now I try to be appreciative of the job I have that has the potential to help people and at the very least is terribly interesting!
----------------------------------------
"I DO BETTER UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION"
This was spoken by a new coaching client during our first coaching session. I laughed then and still do, but I also think it was quite profound and I've used it ever since in my coaching practice.
He was referring to me as the adult supervisor. He thought I was going to play parent, teacher, or cop and make him do his homework for coaching and then his life would go well. He was right but wrong. He was right to think that his life would go better once it was under the direct supervision of an adult mind. He was wrong to think I was going to play that role.
One of the main aspects of my brand of coaching is to introduce clients to their own subconscious in the form of a child with whom they develop a relationship and a dialogue. So the joke is that the client himself became his own adult supervisor over his own child-like being. And yes...his life did go better once he got his child-like behavior under control!
If you think you'd do better with adult supervision I invite you to discuss the coaching process. I'll even give you a free sample session to see if coaching is for you.
Or. You can learn to dialogue with that child-like part of you by watching the 7 part video I produced on visualization. Check it out at the website: www.donclarkson.com

NEED A UNIQUE SPEAKER?
I give lots of talks around the Portland area. I've spoken to a Catholic women's group; the Elks lodge; several branches of the county library system; and my all-time favorite, the Big Foot Society. (Don't ask.) Given that range, surely your group could fit!
One of the talks I currently give is titled Metaphysics 101 and covers some specific tools from astrologers, shamans, and psychics that normal humans can use to make changes in their lives. I usually end with giving an explanation of doing a Grape Cluster so attendees leave with a specific tool they can immediately use.
Call me if you know of a group that might be interested in that topic or others you might have in mind. 503-295-9777

New Year's Resolutions: CONUNDRUM!
Yet Another Aid to Success
Tarot: The Emperor
Skype Class? Could it be?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CONUNDRUM
I hate conundrums. I like things clearly one way or the other, the way God Himself...or is it Herself?... intended. (Damn, another conundrum.) In this issue of New Year's resolutions, I tend to believe which ever position I read last. Wishy washy me! But this seems to be an unresolvable conundrum we'll all have to live with.
There are two basic beliefs about resolutions of any kind. One side says tell no one of your intentions. The other side says we should enlist the help of others in our goals. Let's break down the beliefs.
>From the Tarot comes the Emperor card, explained in more detail later. But take a look now. He sits on a cube and is dressed in steel-plated armor. The armor works in two ways. It keeps outside forces (other's opinions) from entering him, or affecting him. It also holds in or contains himself so he doesn't "leak out" in a sense....doesn't get diluted by being part of the masses. He's self-contained, solid, stoic. He's unmoved and immoveable in his quest for his goals.
The advice of the card is to tell no one of your goals or intentions. And here is an ugly truth gained from the cards and several decades of living. With a very, very few exceptions, most people in your life do not want you to succeed in your goals. I'm not clear what all the psychological reasons are for this, but it seems true. One theory is that for you to be successful means I am diminished in some sense. For you to be great means for me to be less. Or perhaps your success may show off my failure. I think of when I decided to acknowledge decades ago that I was an alcoholic. I can't count the number of people who openly tried to get me to drink. "Well, surely you can have a beer." One man even tricked me into drinking a supposedly non-alcoholic drink, even when it was clearly marked as alcoholic. Why would he do this? I figured it out a year later when I found out he was a raging alcoholic but wouldn't confront it. My success at overcoming an addiction only showed him as being a failure. From then on I rarely described myself as an alcoholic. "I'll just have a coke."
So this is the intent of the Emperor card. Tell no one because they may try to diminish you in your goal, might ridicule you, might try to divert you for whatever reason. Best to just be stoic and strong and soldier on silently!
The opposite point of view suggests that a burden shared is a burden lightened. By telling others of your goal you have perhaps made your commitment stronger. If you soldier on alone, you could easily quit the pursuit and no one would be the wiser. But if others know, then your chance of pushing through a tough spot is probably greater since you don't want to fail in their eyes. And perhaps they have some good ideas that will help you reach your goal. You'd never know if you told no one.
How to resolve the conundrum? Perhaps there is a way to do both points of view. Perhaps the real point is to be quiet about your goals except for a very few consciously chosen people you think will support you on your way. If you blab your dreams to just anyone, you're sure to hear things like, "I knew someone who tried to do that, and they lost everything." Or, "There's only one in a million writers who ever get published." Or, "You be careful....you could go broke, lose the house, and be living under the Burnside Bridge with the other bums." Gee, thanks for the encouragement folks!
But if you do some really serious thinking about whom you want on your "team" of support, perhaps then it's alright to reveal your intentions and to specifically ask them for their support. Somehow this feels very different than casually announcing what you plan to do. I think we call this kind of support "coaching," whether it's from a real coach or just a good friend. The coach supports and encourages and does a bit of cheerleading for you, we hope!
So pick your resolutions carefully and then pick your support team carefully before you go blabbing to others!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
(GOD LOVES SEQUES)
COACH YOUR WAY OUT OF THE CONUNDRUM
One way to resolve the above problem is to decide on a set of goals for the new year, then keep quiet about them for the most part, but enlist your personal "Team" to help you realize your goals. Your team might well include a partner; a close and supportive friend; a professional necessary for your goal, such as an accountant; a person in a specific field or endeavor you're trying to enter; and of course, YOUR LIFE COACH! This is what coaching is all about!
But if you plan on such a coaching team, be sure you plan it out before hand and be prepared to really be serious about asking these very special people to be your executive coaching team. If they know this is important and they are being asked because of their professionalism, they will treat you and your goals with much more respect. And you should plan to meet with these people either individually or as a group on a regular basis. It doesn't have to be all that formal. You might send an email asking for their opinion about a certain course you're thinking of taking. Be sure to ask BEFORE you take action. It makes them feel important and they just might have suggestions that will change your approach.
Several of my coaching clients have such an "advisory committee" they go to for advice about their overall goals and then specific actions toward the goals. This helps take the pressure off the coach and gets a variety of opinions on the subject.
If you would like some coaching help, I suggest you go to my website and download the Intake forms, read over them, set them aside for a day, and then sit down and fill them in quickly. This simple process is a major step toward focusing on your coaching goals. If you decide to hire me as your coach, all the better! I'm here to help support, cajole, and kick butt!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

EMPRESS AND EMPEROR

I put these two together because they make such a nice looking couple! They are meant to be studied together.
The Empress part of you is your right brain...your emotional side. She is pictured as 81/2 months pregnant, meaning you are pregnant with potential dreams that want to be born. She is your creative side that dreams up new year's resolutions for example! This part of you is terrific at coming up with new ideas but it would prefer to stay in that dreamy state and does not do well at "making it real." The part of you that is always dreaming up new stuff is NOT the part of you to rely on to get the job done. That's the role of the Emperor part of you....your left brain, masculine side.
Note the Emperor looks toward the Empress. He....YOU...is always seduced by the creative, emotional side. In fact, it takes steel-plated armor for him to withstand the pull of the emotional side! This is an important concept to remember. It's not that the left brain masculine side of us is uncaring or unfeeling....it is seduced by emotions like anyone else. The difference is that this side has come up with tools to withstand the pull and seduction of the emotions! Not many of us have armor anymore, but we can armor ourselves with knowledge; with our team members; with professional help if needed. We have to learn to do whatever is necessary to NOT be drawn away from our task by our emotions.
Such a conundrum here also. The Empress part of us is great at dreaming dreams but can't make them come real so needs the Emperor part to do just that. And the Emperor part would have nothing to organize and plan for if the Empress side of us didn't dream it up.
Typically we have one side or the other that is dominant and if that is the case then our main task is to stand outside ourselves and decide what we need to strengthen the weaker side. Often that means enlisting the aid of others to bolster that side! That's a sign of strength to ask for help, not weakness!

For decades I've taught classes using the Tarot and Kaballah as tools of enlightenment to help students move forward in their lives. I've often heard from clients in other states wishing they were closer so they could take the class.
With the magic of Skype, this just might happen. The system allows several people on at the same time so I could see me sending lesson handouts to students and then meeting on a weekly basis on camera to discuss and explore the ideas of the cards.
If this holds interest to you, let me know so I can see if it's worth pursuing. I miss teaching!
