The Be All and End All.....
Psychic Special
"I Believe...!"
Metaphysics in Real Estate? Come on!

----------------------------------------------------------

THE BE ALL AND END ALL....

Many people....way too many people....seem to think that having a psychic reading is going to be the be all and end all of their counseling and healing needs. One trip to the psychic will answer all their questions for the rest of their life and heal them of disease, misfortune, and bad hair days. The role that used to be filled by priests, shamans and despots is now taken over by the psychic.
Wrong!
I'm very impressed with the power of the psychic reading to change people's lives, so I don't want to diminish that in any way. But I do want to caution against thinking the process has more power than it really has.
I see the psychic process as a starting point...a place of exploration. A reading is a place for the client and the psychic to explore new avenues of growth and understanding that may not have been conscious before in the client. But that insight doesn't heal disease or bring back errant lovers or magically provide college degrees for a new career. In fact, the reading itself may produce as much frustration as excitement in some people, because it may reveal what the client really wants but also show how far from attaining it they really are. This is why I call what I do 'psychic counseling.' I try to counsel with the client to help them see doorways ahead and paths that may help.
I refer many clients on to other practitioners. If in a reading I see a health problem, I discuss ways the client might get relief and I often refer them on to my naturopath, Judy Neall. Health issues belong with health practitioners, not with psychics.
When I work with a client over time and we both feel there is something holding them back...'the unseen hand,' I often call it....I often refer them to a shaman to see if there is some spiritual blockage that needs to be removed. I refer clients all the time to Michelle Christensen for this kind of work. And for clients wanting to know WHEN something is going to happen, I play real dumb. Psychics are notoriously bad at timing, so I send them to astrologer Diana Stone to see what the moon and stars have to say about when something is going to happen.
(As an aside, all these practitioners can be found on my website under Networking.)
My point here is that the psychic reading may only be a starting point, not the be all and end all of a person's counseling experience. Don't be afraid to explore other avenues to heal or enlighten!
-------------------------------------------------------------

PSYCHIC SPECIAL
If you're a Scorpio, I want to treat you right...keep you on my side...make sure that stinger isn't aimed at me!
Through November, I'll roll back the price of a reading if you're a Scorpio. Instead of an hour at $145, it will be $115; instead of half hour at $115, it will be $95, instead of an email reading at $95, it will be $75.
And just to scare the bejesus out of you, below is the Tarot card for Scorpio...the Death card. But you can relax because, as with all the cards, the card's meaning is really the opposite of what it looks. This is the Birthing card. Even the skeleton, which looks so scary around this time of Halloween, can be seen in a positive light. We often use the phrase that something is 'in skeleton form and needs to be fleshed out.' That's just what this symbol means. If you're a Scorpio, you might look around and see what in your life is still in skeleton form and needs your attention to flesh it out and make it real. (Thank God the rest of us don't need to do that....)

------------------------------------------------------------

"I Believe...I Believe!"

You don't have to go to a tent revival to 'testify' or give a 'testimonial.' You could send me your revelation and I'll print the good ones here for others to read.
If you've had a good experience from a reading or coaching that you think could benefit telling others, please share it. Readers always tell me how much they like hearing from other people besides my yakking. Don't be shy. You could have an impact on someone you'll never know. You could be that last piece of insight they were looking for.

Metaphysics in Real Estate?

At least once a month someone asks me if I use my psychic powers with real estate clients, and I rush to say NO, I do not. I do not look into crystal balls to find the perfect condo for someone, although now that I think of it, this would save a lot of gas. I don't mix these two aspects of my life.
HOWEVER...
There actually is a metaphysical aspect to the buying and selling of real estate for anyone who wants to use it. By 'metaphysical' I use the term in a fairly strict sense....beyond the physical. What are the non physical, non real world tools someone could use to buy or sell property?
Many people believe in the power of St. Joseph to sell their home. Not being Catholic, I don't know the history of this saint and his supposed powers, but he has something to do with difficult causes. I do know that recently, in this slowing real estate market, The Grotto in Portland, which sells plastic Joseph statues for $5.99 or so, ran out of them. It was on the news one evening! Perhaps it was just a slow news day, but I found it significant that hundreds of sellers wanted to plant a statue of St Joseph upside down in their front yard. If you are interested, do a Google search or check your local 'saint supplier' for details on how this might work.
While we're in a kind of religious mood, God knows (pun intended) many people believe in the power of prayer. If you're having trouble selling or needing inspiration finding the right property, it can't hurt or cost much to get down on your knees and offer up a prayer. My only suggestion is to get the picture firmly in your mind of just what you want BEFORE you crack those knees on the floor. Do the questioning and waffling before the prayer so you are very clear what you want in picture form. Apparently even the saints and gods are believers in the power of visualization. Even the Wizard, in the Wizard of Oz, made Dorothy and the others define in clear terms just what they wanted.
This is my way of segueing into what I consider the most power metaphysical tool you can use, the power of visualization. This technique has been cussed and discussed here many times, and is a major part of the book I'm writing, and you can read most of that chapter on my website if you want to learn about visualization. Go to www.donclarkson.com and click on Coaching Tools and Visualization.
And lastly, the ever-popular Grape Cluster may be the best metaphysical tool of all to help you get clarity on what kind of property you want. I have had two clients recently use it because they couldn't decide between two or three very different kinds of homes. Condo in the city? Home in the suburbs? Country maybe? The cluster helped them to see what the pictures are of them being happy in a home. (It was a condo in the city, by the way.)

The Metaphysics of Sex
Testimonial

THE METAPHYSICS OF SEX

If you're on my mailing list and this is the first article you've ever read...you ought to be ashamed of yourself! See how you are. Sex still sells.

Last week a client came for a reading and said they wanted me to help improve their sexlife. My pants were around my knees before I realized, to my horror, they were expecting help in a psychic counseling way. You can imagine my embarrassment.
Metaphysical sexual help? I thought I was unflappable, but this threw me. I did a credible job with the reading, but later ruminated over the issue. What is the metaphysical aspect of sex, if there is one? I decided there is one.

We know there is a physical aspect to sex. I won't bore you here with pictures or descriptions. Our physical selves have certain nerve endings that produce certain physical sensations and responses that most people consider pleasurable. These responses and sensations can be done alone or with partners in all manner of couplings.

We know that there is a romantic aspect to sex. God only knows how it works, but we often have a strong emotional response to certain people, often accompanied by the above mentioned physical responses, and we find ourselves falling into that gooey and even goofy space called LOVE.

So where is the metaphysical aspect to all this? First, let's define terms. "Meta" means simply 'beyond.' Metaphysical therefore means 'beyond the physical.' Big realm! Can mean most anything. Somehow I picture it between the physical sex and romantic sex, and probably the cause of both.

One metaphysical thing could be 'feelings.' They aren't technically physical, although they can produce physical responses. They aren't necessarily romantic, but often produce romance. They are in that gooey realm of the metaphysical. I believe they are created by pictures, visions, visualizations, dreams. The Tarot would say that all things physical and metaphysical start on this level of the vision or the picture. First we have a picture in our mind, either conscious or subconscious, and that picture works its way out into our reality.

And isn't this the way with sex? Don't we get turned on by pictures, either from outside sources or from our own mind? God knows, I live on a highly refined spiritual plane and have never done this, but I have read that some people look at sexually explicit pictures in magazines and the Internet and that stimulates them sexually. I've even read that some people can become sexually aroused by having someone talk, even on the phone, describing sexual scenes. There is even a famous scene in the play RENT where two gay men are in prison and they cannot touch but they fall in love and are so good at description that they can produce orgasms in each other just through words.

Isn't this then the 'metaphysical aspect' of sex? And I propose that it is this aspect that produces the physical aspect and even the romantic aspect. Maybe we could then say that love and sex begin on the metaphysical level.

So who cares? Why does this matter? What is the point if we can bring ourselves to some ecstatic state just through our imagination?

I believe it matters because it doesn't just happen with sex, but with everything in our lives. If pictures in our mind can bring us to orgasm, could other pictures not do other things for us? Could we create new careers? Could we heal ourselves with this same metaphysical power? And if so, how do we do it? By what process can we bring other aspects of our lives into orgasm? Again, I suggest the answer is in the Tarot. It's all done with pictures. Pictures and PASSION. It's all about the intensity we connect to the picture. If you think back, you'll surely find experiences in your life where you had an almost orgasmic intensity of feeling about something that was essentially non-sexual. That really juicy job you wanted. That exciting trip you manifested. These are the juicy things in life that you have created through the power of your imagination coupled with some real passion.

Now the challenge is to decide what the next thing is that you want to create in your life. Get that picture or pictures clearly in mind, and then rev up some passion for it. Maybe call me and I'll talk dirty to you about your next career or whatever you want!

So...what are you wearing.....?

EVER POPULAR GRAPE CLUSTER
Client Testimonial

Wanted to to share with your clients how your suggestion about the "Grape Cluster" changed my life...............
When you asked me to make my cluster as I was struggling with why my relationships always go south, I learned a great deal about myself. As I filled in my cluster, I realized that I was not expecting or wanting unreal and unreasonable returns from the opposite sex. I found that it was not the mansion on the hill, the BMW in the driveway, a rich or handsome "special person" I was looking for. I wrote things like: Calls me in the middle of the day just to say "I'm thinking about you; Takes walks in the park and holds my hand; sends a simply arrangement of flowers to work , just because; can be a "bad boy" but always with a fun heart; Loves children and likes to do fun things to enrich their lives; would like to curl up with a blanket on a cool day and have a picnic either at home or park and snuggle, or watch a movie together; Respects my time with girl friends and knows that is no threat to him; listens to what I need to talk about and discuss and or help me with discussions; surprises me with a cooked meal or even says " I will clean up tonight;" would share my religion with me ; believes in me and supports me, ect........
In looking at this on paper, I realized what I need to be looking for in this mate to have a fulfilled and Happy life. Thanks Don, this was a real eye-opener. You're "simply the Best" !!!!!!!!! Hope my sharing helps someone else who is lost in looking for Mr. or Mrs. "Right." My next cluster will be on my new career in Insurance and just how far I want to take my new adventure and to what limit. I'm thinking the Sky may be the limit !!

READER POLL

Even as I work to do a major revision on one of two plays I've written, and even as I outline a series of 6 other plays I want to write....even so I've recently had three people who know me push me to '...do something with those two books you have in you!' I'd like you, Dear Reader, to help me decide if I should put out the effort to finish the two books.
Book ONE is a collection of stories from my psychic reading practice. Years ago I printed 40 copies of a dozen stories and passed it around to friends. Most people who read it said they 'couldn't put it down,' even if they didn't believe in the psychic process. My book would be very much like The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, a hugely popular book about neurological oddities. Mine would simply be a collection of interesting tales, such as the one that follows here.
Book TWO is about half done and would be yet another self help book about the tools I use in coaching, such as visualization, clusters, cubes, etc. It would be a very practical guide for the reader to bring about change in their life.
OR, as was suggested by the woman who would be my editor...what if I combined the two books? Tales from the psychic readings used to illustrate the coaching tools I use. This would seem the most practical and useful form of book.

My questions to you Dear Reader follow and you can simply reply to this newsletter and say 1 Yes or no and 2 yes or no, or you are welcome to explain yourself. Your input could help me decide whether or not to do this.
1. Would you be interested in paying money to read case studies from the psychic practice, as illustrated by the story that follows?
2. Would you be interested in paying money to read a book of case studies that illustrate tools you could use in your own life?

_____________________________________________________________
TALES FROM THE BEYOND
Following is one of my favorite stories from my case histories. This was the first time I did a future prediction...and didn't even know I was doing it! This reading changed the course of all the rest of my readings to follow:

LESSONS TO BE LEARNED
Polly came to me as a metaphysical 'virgin.' She had never had an experience with anything remotely connected with the psychic, astrology, or any other system. She is one of a number of people who come for a reading somewhat on a lark, as something new and exciting to do that will provide some interesting cocktail chatter among her friends. Ultimately she came for three readings, and by the last she was a believer in the psychic connection, although frustrated about not being able to stop or change events.
In her first reading, much of the time was spent on her career and possible changes coming up. But near the end, the reading focused on an affair she was having with a married man. When I watched in my mental 'workshop,' I suddenly had an image of his wife going into a rage, throwing objects around the room. I smiled at first and mentioned to Polly rather matter of factly that obviously his wife was not thrilled at this affair! She was surprised to hear this and said his wife knew nothing of it. This was embarrassing to me because the image was so clear in my Workshop that I took it as truth. I went back to the Workshop and watched the same scene of the wife throwing objects and screaming. I described it again to Polly and then went back to the Workshop hoping to move on to other scenes. The third time it came back identical to the other scenes and this gave me a chill. Why would it be so insistent when the event was not true?
I finished the reading and Polly left, apparently satisfied with the information, even with the incorrect scenes about her affair. The reading was done on a Thursday afternoon. Friday afternoon Polly called to tell me the latest news. As in a bad soap opera, it seems the man's wife found Polly's phone number in his pocket and confronted him with her suspicions. When he admitted to having an affair, his wife became hysterical, ran from the house and went to her Catholic church where she proceeded to throw objects from the altar, railing against her God who had betrayed her. She had to be subdued by priests and staff and taken away.
>From this reading I learned an important lesson which has so far held true. If I see an image or scene which will not go away after three attempts to clear my Workshop screen, then I know that the scene is about to happen. In several other readings I have had the same experience coupled with a sense that the scene is very current, maybe even happening during the time of the reading. In almost every case, the scene has worked itself into reality within days, never more than a week.
Polly came a few months later for a second reading, and again we dealt with information about her career and relationships. This time she seemed to take the information more seriously! Just before the end of the reading, she asked if there was any information to give about her children. Instantly I had an image of her daughter in a red car. The daughter's boyfriend was driving and they had an accident where another car hit their right front fender and then drove off. While the accident itself was relatively minor, I felt the incident would have much more major consequences and suggested that Polly tell her daughter not to let her boyfriend drive the car. As it turned out, Polly did tell her daughter what I had seen, but her daughter took it very casually as any teenager would, or as anyone would for that matter when told a psychic foresees you having a car accident!
About a week later Polly called to tell me that as predicted, they did have an accident where someone hit the right front fender while the boyfriend was driving. And sure enough, it caused much trouble. It seems the boyfriend had a suspended license from another accident and when the police reported this, the insurance company refused to pay for damages. Not only that, the other car was long gone as a hit-and-run driver, so there was no recourse from them. Within days I had a call from the daughter pressuring me to look into my Workshop and get a license number so they could find the other car!
I have always told clients that nothing in a reading is written in stone. If I see a future image that they don't like, they will start making decisions from that point which will move them away from that event, in effect changing their future. The disturbing thing about this reading was the sense I felt that it would all come true and there was no stopping it. In watching similar cases evolve, the conclusion I've come to is that it is possible to change when the events are in the life of the person I'm reading, but when it goes beyond them to another person not directly involved in the reading, then there is little to do to control future events. The other person may hear of the image, but not having been in the reading they perhaps don't feel the urgency or seriousness and therefore don't work to change.
Polly came for a third reading a few months later. Again we talked of current events in her life, and then she asked about my feeling about her daughter's upcoming wedding. With almost no thought, I said it wouldn't last a year. I described her fiance and the troubles I felt he had, some of which Polly knew. But there were things no one realized about him and his relation with her daughter which would become insurmountable and the marriage would not be successful. By now Polly was quite a believer in the readings and the workshop images and this frustrated her. She believed me when I said the marriage wouldn't last, but what should she do about it? Invitations were mailed and plans set. How could she go to her daughter and tell her to stop her wedding because a psychic told her to?! I agreed that there was nothing she could do and I would not want that kind of burden on me and she wouldn't want it on her. Nothing was said to the daughter.
Many months later I had a call from Polly to say that my prediction had be wrong. I predicted the marriage wouldn't last a year. It actually hadn't lasted six months! Another lesson learned from the readings. Some events have to work themselves out. Some information is too hard to take and no one would believe it, not even me. There are lessons people need to learn on their own, not from listening to a psychic.

WHY WOULD A SANE MAN SPEND HIS ADULTHOOD STUDYING TAROT?

Inquiring minds want to know. Or at least OUGHT to know. It's a question that I have often asked myself. Why do I do this? What is the fascination with the Tarot as a tool of insight and even healing? If they are just pieces of paper with pictures on them, where is the magic in them?
A friend recently sent me the following link that I think very well explains what I have never been able to. If you have any interest in the Tarot or any other divination device, like Runes, pendulum, astrology, you may be interested in reading this interesting information. The first paragraph is a bit off-putting so push through it to the good stuff!

THE WORM HAS TURNED!

All over the country, reports are that the real estate market has suddenly turned from a seller's market to a buyer's market. How long this will last is anyone's guess. I'm just glad that I'm as old as I am because I've been through three major market 'corrections' in my real estate career. I'm watching young pup brokers panic over the sky falling, and I am able to remain the calm wise one who has seen it all.
But in all the drama, be careful what you say and how you interpret what you hear. There is hyperbole everywhere. For two weeks I've heard sellers complain they will 'lose money' on the sale of their home. But let's do the math here. If you bought property years ago for $200,000 and hoped to sell it today for $600,000 but it only sells for $500,000, did you 'lose money' on it? You got less than you hoped to, but you actually made a profit of $300,000. God Bless America where you can 'lose' money and still make a profit! Be cautious how you talk about the money figures so you don't escalate an easily escalated topic!
What the change can mean.
For Sellers: If you have been thinking of selling but were waiting for the market to top out....it just did in most places, so NOW is the time to sell! Most people feel we have just gone over the crest of the wave of high prices. Of course, many factors play into the equation...local market, condition of property, seasonal changes.
For Buyers: If you were waiting for prices to top out, they probably just did. There are many more properties on the market so you have some time to look around, instead of being faced with multiple offers on the house that you just saw an hour ago! With supply greater than demand, you are probably able to make a lower offer and expect to get it where in the past many sales were over the asking price. Start looking at properties now.

If you are in the Portland market and want a way to look at all the properties for sale, go to www.rmls.com and fill in the blanks. When you find something you like, you call me and I'll come running to show you! 503-295-9777.

Dreaming
Letters, We Get Letters
All Things Old Are New Again

___________________________________________________________________---
DREAMING

I often have clients come with dreams and ask for my interpretation. I don't give one. I'm terrible at dream interpretation! The second most embarrassing moment of my life was in a dream class where I watched a dozen sweet women stare aghast as I went on and on about my dream of a long, hard oar going in and out of an oval shaped oar-lock as I sank into the water. The trainer finally made me stop, saying "Let's save that till next time when we discuss sexual dreams." Sexual? Oar? In and out? OMG! It might as well have been a cigar going into a tunnel.
But I do think dreams are important, and wanted to share one a client recently sent me because I think its message is something we all can learn from. From a client:

Here is that dream I told you I'd write down:

"I am in heaven, talking to someone, I don't know who. I am complaining about the fact that my senses are not very sharp in my ethereal body. I tell this person that I know that there are many trials and tribulations from being on earth and in a body, but that the amazing sensory experience we have while there makes it all worthwhile".

I am so happy that I had that dream - because I am also aware that I tend to look at my body as somewhat of a culprit, thinking things like "I am five pounds overweight, have wrinkles, flabby arms, my body gets tired, needs exercise, etc!" So this dream has given me a new appreciation of it and that is good

____________________________________________________________

LETTERS, WE GET LETTERS

I get some of the most wonderful letters from some of the most interesting people. I wanted to share this one for several reasons. First, it makes me look really, really good! That's a good thing. But it also points up an issue I have with clients who have a reading. This client heard my information and even though it didn't make all that much sense, she went out and DID something about it. She trusted the process. Many clients come for a reading and then sit back in their rocking chairs waiting for miracles to happen. Romances don't fall through the ceiling. New careers don't come knocking on your door. If a reading is to 'come true,' you are the one who has to go out and take a risk to make it come true.
I also wanted to publicize this reading because what Irena is going to do is so sweet and touching, perhaps readers know of special needs children who could benefit. I'll put you in touch if you're interested.

Don, I want to write and thank you for the tremendous help our sessions have been to me.

When I was looking for a lawyer to take my injury case in 2004 and had already interviewed more than a dozen possibilities and was really despairing, you foresaw that a helpful lawyer would take my case, even though time was running out. What was most amazing to me is that while the Internet search you recommended didn't pan out, your belief in my ability to resolve this and your clear wisdom pushed me in a new direction. I found a lawyer in Illinois, where the injury occurred, and even though there were only days left for filing, he eagerly took me on and got me a large settlement.

The second time I came to see you in January of 2006, I was looking for some direction for new income possibilities. Because my son is ill, full time work is not possible for me. At the same time, I wanted to use my training and talents in theater. You foresaw me working on an exciting project with my son, one that would be located in downtown Portland. To be honest, that sounded really crazy to me. But, I've come to trust your insights. I began thinking about it and came up with a plan to offer drama workshops that teach social skills to special needs children. Portland State University downtown has just recently agreed to rent me space for these workshops and the first are scheduled for July and August.

Don, because of your substantial psychic powers, you are able to see things that are hidden from me. Because they are hidden, I tend to fall into a lot of negativity about my future. Your ability to predict success for me and guide me in the direction of that success is making a tremendous difference in my life.

Thank you, thank you. Sincerely, Irena Grant

All Things Old Are New Again

For twenty years I ran my own real estate company, starting with a small company in Lincoln City, Oregon and moving to a large company near Portland where I managed 30 other agents. For ten years I ran a solo practice half days while I did psychic readings the rest of the day. Now I've come back to that model when I quite accidentally discovered that the state would count my past experience and give me the necessary license to work alone. Much to my surprise, even my old company name had been accidentally left registered to me! (An obvious Sign From God that I am to do this....) I am once again Broker/Owner of Neighborhood Realty, Inc! I would love to be of help in your real estate needs in the greater Portland area if you have property to sell or buy, or if you just want to talk shop. I'm happy to give you a free comparative market analysis on your property so you can keep up with our soaring prices. Most home owners who have lived in a property for several years are unaware of the goldmine they sit on!
By way of community and social concern, I donate 5% of my real estate income to First Unitarian Church in Portland to help build their 6 million dollar new education building which gives all of Portland a new spiritual and educational outlet. If you have a different community outreach program you would like to support, I'm happy to donate the same percentage in your name.

The Lighter Side of Serious
High Costs of Coaching

------------------------------------------------------------

THE LIGHTER SIDE OF SERIOUS

Ok, I get it. Just today another person commented on my last two articles in Psychic Phlashes, describing them as "Very interesting, but so serious. Is there a lighter side to what you do?" Yes, actually, there are many funny stories to tell, most not repeatable in polite company however, and a couple that will go with me to the grave.
Today's readings alone would be a good place to start for some amusement. I was asked to do a reading on a favorite client's impending divorce. Nothing funny about that, surely. But I was in effect asked to confirm a previous reading on the subject by a psychic cat! I'm pleased to report that the psychic cat and I agreed on the situation, but I'm also just a tad bit hurt that I was asked for my opinion AFTER the cat's opinion had been received...just how it was received I didn't ask. Competition. Everywhere competition.
And there is always the story of the Linoleum Lady that brought gales of laughter to the group where I did the reading. I was in Diana Stone's Huna group where she several times mentioned my psychic abilities. One evening a group member, obviously sick of hearing about me, said, "Do it. Do a reading. Right here, right now."
I was new to all this, innocent and vulnerable, and here I was being challenged to prove myself on the spot. After a couple minutes of what Diana always referred to as my 'bullshit disclaimer,' I proceeded to do a reading on the name of a woman I was given by the challenger. I did my schtick. Went to my imaginary workshop and watched the vision unfold about this woman. Floating in space was a woman with only her head showing from a roll of gray linoleum. She hovered about a foot off the floor. She had way too much makeup on, garish jewelry, and hair overly done. And that's all that happened. I'm sitting at the front of the darkened room, 20 people quietly waiting for my great visions from the ethers, and all I get is linoleum? What am I going to say?
When I opened my eyes and described what I'd seen in the vision, the challenger sat with her mouth open and turned pale. "That's absolutely perfect," she said. She explained that the woman was very pretentious, overdressed all the time, and had felt she married beneath her true station. She had married....drum roll.....a linoleum layer and felt trapped in the marriage!
And speaking of Diana Stone. I've never had more metaphysical laughs or been thrown out of nicer places than with her. I'm sure she remembers the weekend she came to visit me at the coast when I lived at Cascade Head Ranch, a remote and classy metaphysical place overlooking the river and ocean. She announced the visit to her classes and clients. Dozens of people were waiting expectantly. Diana Stone and Don Clarkson were going to spend a weekend together to tune into the cosmos, come back with answers, and rule the world at least. With great excitement and a little bit of ceremony, we begin the journey by having me go into meditation, go to my imaginary 'workshop,' which just happens to be an imaginary tower built on the headlands at Cascade Head. I will go there and meet God and bring back the answers..... Except that...wait...NO...It can't be happening. As I approach in my imagination, the tower slowly falls off the cliff into the ocean.
"Well, for God's sake imagine the damn thing back in place,' Diana logically screamed. But it was not to be. No matter what I did, it was gone. She and I spent the rest of the evening laying on our backs, watching stars, and giggling like two 14 year old girls in a slumber party.
So, don't think there is only seriousness afoot in metaphysics. There are good times to be had out there in the ethers!
----------------------------------------------------------------
THE HIGH COSTS OF COACHING

Why would anyone pay another person to help them do what they probably already know they should be doing in the first place? (Don't attempt to diagram that sentence.) Coaching is very costly.

Money: $85 per session. But that's not the real cost. The real cost to you is the money you lose NOT hiring a coach to help you figure out how to make much more money in a job you'll love.
Time: 60 minutes per week. If the week has 10,080 minutes, this equals 1/168th of your week. But that's not the real cost. The real cost is the hours you misspend avoiding your job, wringing your hands, and wondering what coaching could do for you.
Focus: defining one thing you'll do this week. The real cost to you is the time you fritter away NOT being focused on something that will produce results for you.

Coaching is Expensive...or ....Cheap. You decide. Call for a free sample session.

When making a decision of minor importance, I have always found it advantageous to consider all the pros and cons. In vital matters, however, the decision should come from the unconscious, from somewhere within ourselves. In the important decisions of personal life, we should be governed by the deep inner needs of our nature.

PROOF OF GOD!

Several months ago I saw a short news article about yet another group looking at a strange formation on a mountain in the Middle East. They are convinced it is Noah's Ark. The leader of the fundamentalist group explained the real reason they need to prove this. "If we can prove this is Noah's Ark, we will prove the story in the Bible is true. If we prove the story is true, then we prove the Bible is true. If we prove the Bible is true, then we prove that the Christian God is the one true God."
My mind reeled back to college logic class but I was unable to remember just what this kind of illogic is called. (Heck, I can't remember lunch!) But there is a name for it and this process that produces so much mental anguish in the world.
Fast forward to the present when I have recently had two clients use the same kind of 'logic' regarding my psychic reading. One person was a very nervy caller who interviewed me before deciding on coming for a reading. "Tell me something about me that only I would know to prove that you're psychic." When I asked just what that would prove, she said, "It would prove that you're really psychic, which would prove that there is some mysterious force in the universe that connects to God, and that would prove there is a God." Wow. And all this for $115. (She didn't come for a reading, suffice it to say.)

After I stopped laughing and snickering about this simpleton's request, I came to the slow realization and horror that I have been using the same illogic since I first unexpectedly fell into the psychic world. I spent several years reading and trying to 'prove' and explain the psychic process. I gave up years ago. Or did I?
The average reading is probably just that...average. It's interesting to me at least, could be true, might not be true, average. But there are some readings that are really remarkable and make even me sit up and take notice. I name names; I identify the very issue the client is worried about, given no information; I predict the exact event that happens in the near future. I sit back and take notice and say, "Wow...that really proves the psychic process does exist." But in the back of my mind I know that I secretly think what it really proves is that there is some mysterious force out there that can be tapped into, and I think under even that layer of thinking is the thought that perhaps this secret force is in effect a God who will save me from death. At least it leaves open the chance or hope that there are mysterious forces at work that we don't know about and cannot prove, so just maybe there is a God.
I spoke yesterday to a standing room only crowd at the Central Library in Portland. 150 people came to listen to a psychic. That seems odd to me. What were they really there for? I think the answer came from a woman who waited to talk to me. She was very excited by my talk because it validated for her that the psychic process works and proves there is a God. "Don't you think it proves God," she asked.
"No, frankly, I don't believe it does," I said. She forced me to finally decide and to say it. I think only 1 or 2 percent of my mind thinks there is a God in any traditional religious sense. What I think the psychic process may prove is that there is some very potent force at work, and I believe that force is our own individual subconscious. I believe that thoughts and images can be conveyed outside of our bodies through some as yet unproven force and they can be picked up by others. I don't think we have to go to 'heaven' to find this power but we can find it in ourselves.
Even Jesus said that God is in each of us, and "all that I do, you shall do and more." I believe the resurrection of Jesus was not of his body coming back to life but that his consciousness, his message, finally came into the consciousness of the people around him when they realized he was gone and they were the ones left to carry on his message. I believe the real 'resurrection' and the real Easter message is that we need to renew that power within us and use it as best we can, and that goes for the 'psychic' power as well which we all have, and we can use it to reach out and teach, heal, and love others.

TESTIMONIAL:

Adult ADD and me...how a psychic and some medication changed my life.

Yes, that's medication, not meditation. I've never been fond of taking medication and pride myself on being able to heal myself and stay healthy with very few doctor visits or the need to pop pills. But at 44 years old, I was getting sick and tired of a never ending pattern in my life. Starting 16 projects and barely finishing a single one. My mind was on full speed ahead, but nothing was getting accomplished. I felt stuck. But not stuck like a car with a dead battery; more like a car facing an unmovable barrier while the engine is revving all the way. My wheels were spinning out of control, but I wasn't going anywhere! And I couldn't apply the brakes! This would make me exhausted and depressed because deep inside I knew I had potential to do something big with my life.

A dear friend suggested a psychic to help me unlock my potential. I called him. He saw a vision of what I could be (which is the same vision I had for myself), and towards the end of my session he told me I had Adult ADD or ADHD. My stomach dropped. For a few seconds he lost all credibility with me. I'm in the health care and self-help industry (certified massage therapist and empowerment consultant) and I'd had it with medical professionals sticking the label ADD on almost every human that walks through the door. And now I had a psychic telling me this?? He picked up on my instant anxiety and distaste. He directed me to some on-line assessments that could clarify if I was seriously a candidate for ADD. I found 3 separate assessments and answered about 250 questions within a couple days. The results were conclusive. It appeared I had ADD. I then scheduled an appointment with a new doctor. The old doctor would always put me on anti-depressants when I complained of my symptoms. I hated being on the anti-depressants because I didn't consider myself depressed!

I went into the appointment pretending to be oblivious and didn't reveal the psychic's "diagnosis" or my research on the internet, or the assessments I took. I simply told the new doctor my symptoms. After he asked me about a dozen questions, he suggested I had Adult ADD! There it was again! He sent me home with a 500 question assessment (okay, maybe not 500 questions, but it was long!). He sent a second set of questions for my husband to answer about me. A week later I returned with the completed questionnaires. Upon review, the doctor prescribed Adderall - a medication used for ADD. This one has a stimulant which the doctor recommended when I told him how exhausted I felt especially in the morning (because my wheels were spinning all night long).

Long story short, I've been on the medication for 4 months. After some experimenting with dosage, Adderall 20 mg seems perfect for me. The medication took effect instantly. Since January, I have been able to channel my energy into a funnel so to speak. My focus has been incredible. I started the public speaking business I always dreamed of, and as of last week, I've now rented office space to open up my own Empowerment Center.

I truly believe if I had not gotten off my high horse and heeded to the advice of the psychic and my doctor, my wheels would still be spinning. If you feel like a ping pong ball that has been catapulted into an empty room and you are aimlessly hitting all 4 walls, ceiling and floor at full speed....I suggest you consider taking some assessments (www.amenclinic.com) and consider the possibility you have ADD. But don't stop there, if that is your diagnosis, do something about it. Take the medication. Don't suffer and put off your dreams indefinitely just to be able to say "I don't take any medications". Medication may be the key to unlocking your potential.

from The Summer Day, by Mary Oliver

I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

IN THIS ISSUE:
DEATH AND DYING....some fun!
LETTERS...WE GET LETTERS

-----------------------------------------------------------

UPON SEEING MY OWN MORTALITY
along with reflections on the nature of REGRETS

I'll reserve judgment till I finish writing this, but this article may be of a more serious nature and lack my usual devastating wit and charm. You may want to skip this article entirely and go to the next one! Or press on...you may save yourself some angst in the future.
In metaphysics we often hear of 'the lifting of the veil' when we suddenly have a moment of incredible clarity into the nature of some issue we're facing. It's as though a fog suddenly lifted and we see reality clearly, even painfully. And the fog or cloud metaphor is very apt, for usually the clouds come back around within moments or hours and we wonder if we really did see so clearly. In the Tarot this is portrayed in the Tower card where lightning strikes the tower and shatters that reality, but there are clouds pictured even in the Tarot card to show that illumination is usually temporary and transitory.

I had such an experience a few days ago and it was shattering. For about 45 seconds I saw ahead to my own death. But it was not seeing so much as feeling it. Yes, I know I'll die from a left brain point of view and I have a will and all those things in order. But to really have a feeling of the end was quite different. If you saw the Hitchcock movie Vertigo you remember when Jimmy Stewart was trying to climb the bell tower stairs and the floor suddenly fell out from under him. That was part of the sense of my experience. It was an anxiety attack, in medical terms.
The event lasted seconds but the effect is still with me, and I think the effect will be positive. Once I regained my composure, I asked myself why it had upset me so to realize the obvious. I was surprised to get the clear message that there is much left undone in my life. The real reason for my upset wasn't in the dying but in the regrets I felt of things undone. And here's the really interesting part!
Once I realized I have regrets, I tried to define just what those regrets are and I was surprised at the answer. I assumed I regretted the long lost dreams that will never be. I'll never be a concert pianist; I'll never sing at the Met; I'm too old to be a world class athlete of any kind; age now keeps me from even attempting many careers that require years of study. I tried to really 'get into' a feeling of regret for any of those lost hopes. But nothing would come. So, back at the meditative drawing board, I asked, "SO...just what ARE these regrets that make me feel like weeping?"
The regrets that left me speechless are: the play that I've already written but left unrevised on the coffee table; the book that might help readers in their lives that I have mostly written and could easily finish; the body that is not really fully developed the way I want and could be with just a bit more caution in what I eat and a bit more intensity in the time I already spend in the gym; the full relationship that eludes me because I don't really put much effort into it.
In short....the regrets are not for the things that cannot be but for things that could be but aren't. Yet.
Regrets are not from here back in time but from here forward to the end, and as the time between now and death shortens, the feeling of regret intensifies. For many people, it can be assuaged by a few more beers, another drug, more hours at the office, or any number of distractions. But perhaps the better way is to get deeply honest with what those regrets really are and, in the best coaching model, make a plan of attack and actually accomplish these things so at the end there is no sense of regret or longing for what might have been. Hopefully in the meantime, when that veil lifts again, I won't have need for an anxiety attack over my undone life but will sit back with a smirk knowing I'm fully engaged in 'regret proofing' myself.
If this resonates with you and you have fear of regrets, I suggest you either hire a coach to help you identify and attain your desires or work out a concrete plan of your own whereby you write down those things that could produce regret, make a time-line for each one where you list what would be needed to attain each goal, and then MARK IN YOUR CALENDAR what you plan to do each day or week so that when your veil gets lifted or your end comes you too will smile a knowing smile of accomplishment not regret!

--------------------------------------------------------------
LETTERS...WE GET LETTERS

Following is a note from Shannon Keegan who allowed her name to be used. This is in response to my Christmas Psychic Phlashes wherein I tripped over the political correctness of the Merry Christmas vs. Happy Holidays issue:

You know, Don, my first reaction in reading your legal, politically correct Christmas Greeting was a chuckle and a grimace: this really is where we've come to, and I think it must be Hell. Because Hell is when you can't be who you are.
But then, my consciousness went the next step and said, But wait, none of these adjectives are who we truly are.
We are not our physical abilities, our "creed" or religion, we're not our sexual preference.
We're not our ethnic heritage.
What if we've brought ourselves to a point where we must give up
attachment to groups with boundaries in order to merely coexist? And what if the hellishness of it is the harsh experience of birth into a new existence?

Spirit doesn't care about our sexual preference, our physical
abilities...and I'm pretty sure Spirit doesn't care about our religion because Spirit seems to circulate nicely among all religions.

Maybe the reason we feel so frustrated with all the awkwardness of the politically correct "filter" is because we're on the brink of cutting loose all the externals that are actually no longer useful to us, we just haven't realized it yet. The reason why the politically correct idea is big and clunky, is because our social baggage is big and clunky, and the politically correct part is just the big in-your-face band-aid we cover it with.
I think that was more than 2 cents... Merry Christmas, Don, and a prosperous, if not bombastic, New Year! I have personally asked God to send you a whole bunch of money. And some for me, too.
