MY CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR CARD FOR YOU

Humor me for a moment while I talk about my favorite topic, the Tarot, and offer you some ancient wisdom for this holiday season. If there were a Christmas card in the deck, it would surely be the Death card. Of course, the information and symbols in the deck were around long before there were Christians or Christmas, but the symbols and messages were the same then as now. Let me briefly explain the symbols.

The view of the card is to the east....sunrise, not the sunset that most viewers think at first glance. And in the east there is what almost looks like a star. It is a seed which is in its own small way a star or sun with potency bursting forth.
The skeleton therefore is walking from the dark cold north to the bright warm south. (Palm Springs, I like to think.) The river too flows from the cold ice of the north which melts into water that flows into the cosmic ocean in the warm south and begins its journey again to become ice in the north. Cycles.
The strange body parts look as if they're planted in the ground, and in fact they are, and with the twigs next to them represent the idea of rebirth. Another cycle.
And what of the skeleton itself? If you look closely, it's actually twisted in an impossible position, which has ancient symbolic meaning but in simplistic terms can be thought of as a spring twisted tightly, ready to spring open. We usually think of a skeleton as the end of a life process, yet we often speak of something in 'skeleton form needing to be fleshed out.'
Now looking at the card, nearly all the symbols have to do with new birth, potency, and expectancy. Something is about to burst forth in bright light!

Except, wait a minute.... What about that scythe? That looks a bit ominous to be skipped over! It certainly is an instrument of death, cutting, and ending, but it is also the very instrument that made the new twigs and body parts which will produce new growth. So, somewhere here is a message about cutting and ending coupled with new beginnings and growth.
Sounds like this season doesn't it? This darkest time of the year is all about light. Look around you and you'll see all the symbols from the card. We cut down living trees and bring them inside as symbols of new green growth; we hang lights to ward off the demons of the dark; we bring in mistletoe and holly as fertility symbols; we tell the story of Jesus and the star in the east. This is the message of the card.

But the challenge of the card is deeper than that. Look again into the deep eyes of the skeleton. He's looking right into you! He's challenging you to examine your life in this darkest of time and see what you need to cut out of your life; what needs pruning; what do you want to let go of in order to make room for something new and expectant to 'rise in your east.' It's only through death, cutting, and endings that we make room for the new.
The best gift you could give yourself this season then would be to look deeply into your life and decide what you want to give up and what you want to gain. That seed and sun in the east are about to explode into the light of a new spring. Why not consciously determine now what will spring forth in you.

Wedding bells and grape clusters....
WHAT BETTER PROOF CAN THERE BE?

Proof that a simple 'grape cluster' really works:
Carol hired me as her coach nearly a year ago and we met a total of two times. I did some serious arm-twisting and convinced her to 'just play at' doing a grape cluster on having a new relationship. and now I are one!

Following is a client testimonial letter intended to toot my own horn, but also illustrate an all too common problem with medical diagnosis, especially with thyroid issues:

I wanted to send you a note and thank you. I'm sure you don't remember every reading but in the first five minutes of my reading you said CHEMICAL, CHEMICAL, CHEMICAL!!! You said I had some type of chemical imbalance and if listened to nothing else you said, I should listen to that. I explained to you how I've been struggling for eight years to lose weight that I gained in a manner of months. I went to see an endocrinologist on Thursday and after five minutes of talking to me he wrote a prescription for 100 mcg of Levoxyl. He felt my thyroid and said that it felt enlarged. The funny part was that every time other doctors checked - they never checked the spot that he did. So I don't know what they were feeling! I explained to him that my blood work never showed anything wrong and he said that in fact it had - it was in the low to normal range but favoring the low.

So had it not been for my reading with you I would still be frustrated. I'm not sure if this is the answer to the weight problem but for the first time in eight years I feel like someone finally heard me and we've taken the first steps.

INTERVIEW WITH A DRUMMER
But this is no ordinary rock band!

Toby Christensen travels around the country giving private healing sessions as well as workshops, lectures, and demonstrations on what has to be one of the most unique healing modalities. 1. Very briefly, what is it that you do?
[Toby Christensen] Basically, I use sound energy as a mechanism to move energy in the body. This is done with the use of chimes, tuning forks, Native American hoop or shaman's drum, and a Djembe drum from West Africa.
2. You have called this a method of 'healing.' Can you explain how drumming could heal someone of a disease?
[Toby Christensen] The healing process is called Bio-energetic Reconfiguration. We all have created a certain "environment" or bio-energetic field in our beings with all aspects of our selves, physical, emotional, spiritual and energetic bodies as part of this system. Each environment vibrates at a certain frequency and allows habitation of different energies. Some vibrations are compatible with cancer, some with AIDS, some with depression or chronic fatigue, etc. By changing the vibration of this bio-energetic field, the environment is changed and the disease is no longer compatible with its environment. It's like heating the North Pole to 80 degrees. By changing the environment many organisms that reside there will no longer be able to exist. The same thing happens with the human body.
3. Are there certain kinds of diseases or disorders that respond better?
[Toby Christensen] I have worked with many people going through Chemo Therapy and every person has had a significant reduction in negative symptoms of chemo after a drum treatment. So I would have to say this is one that responds very quickly. Also, depression, Herpes, and stress related ailments respond very quickly.
4. Is there any 'scientific' explanation or proof that this works?
[Toby Christensen] Yes, what I do is based on the principals of quantum physics. If you break the body down to its smallest particle you find we are mostly made up of energy. This energy is vibrating at the frequency of a human body. It seems logical that if we are made up of energy and there is a malfunction in the energy of the body, that a change will most likely occur if we use energy to influence the change. The medical community refers to this as Einsteinian Medicine. This viewpoint is that the body is a unit of energy and good health is determined by a good flow of energy. Illness is caused by a disruption in the energy of the body. By reconfiguring energy of the body to the energetic structure and flow of health, a person experiences good health and well being. Harvard and Duke Medical Schools are doing research on sound and spiritual healing. The results of their work are very interesting.
5. Where did you learn to do this? Is there real training involved?
[Toby Christensen] I learned this through a process that has been presenting itself for the past 12 years, through working with African, Native American, and Shamanic teachers and the encouragement of friends and the support of my wife Michelle, a very powerful Shamanic teacher and practitioner. The first aspect of training is mastering the tools. The second is developing the connection with the unseen world to give guidance and direction to help people.

6. God knows I'm not skeptical....I'm enlightened. But if there were skeptical readers, is there some place they could go to get more information about this?

7. Give us one of your best case studies.
[Toby Christensen] Wow, this is a hard one. I had a person come in who had been suffering for 15 years with thyroid malfunction and adrenal shut down. She had been on medication for these conditions for many years and her doctors had determined this to be a life long affliction. Well, after just a few drum treatments she was on vacation when resting quietly on the beach her heart started to race and her blood pressure skyrocketed. She is a nurse practitioner so she had her sleeve with her and knew about the medication she was taking. Her blood pressure and pulse were off the charts and to make a long story short she cut her medication out completely. When she returned, and asked her doctor for a blood test. The Dr. replied "We have your meds perfect. There is no need to recheck you." On her insistence, full blood work was done and all her levels were perfect! She then informed her physician she had been off all meds for several weeks. She has now been off all meds for almost 2 years and is in the best shape of her life.

I would never suggest that anyone discontinue medical treatment without medical supervision, but this woman was a trained practitioner and knew what she was doing. A Case study
A CHARMING LITTLE STORY WITH A BIG LESSON

CJ has been coming to me for readings for several years and I have an extremely good track record with predicting her future, if I do say so myself. I told her where she would live and work even when she thought it impossible. I was a month ahead of the sperm when it comes to her second child. I described her house and its neighborhood so that she could easily find it. In short, CJ is what we call 'A Believer.'
Since I have been so successful in the major events of her life, she recently asked me to see where her daughter would be going to school. She volunteered that she would like her to go to a nearby well-respected Catholic school and she admonished me to keep my caustic opinions about Catholic schools to myself. My tongue still has scars from the biting it took.
I went into my mental 'workshop' and waited for a picture of her school to develop. Up came the Louvre in Paris. More specifically, up came the new controversial glass pyramid in front of the Louvre. Nothing else. What could this possibly have to do with a school in Seattle, Washington?
I gave CJ my best interpretation. The school must be very modern with extremely contemporary architecture. She explained that the school she wanted did not fit that picture at all. It was a sweet old red brick school building. Being A Believer, CJ spent time driving around looking for this ultra modern building but week after week found nothing that seemed to fit.
A couple weeks ago I received an email with a screaming Subject line of "You're not going to believe this!" CJ had driven by the sweet little Catholic school that day, but this time she took a different street and saw the back of the school. Apparently the school had a small chapel behind the school that burned to the ground a few years ago. It had been replaced with....drum roll....a pyramid!
What are the chances? How many pyramids could there possibly be at any school, let alone in Seattle?
The lesson for me, which I have relearned over the years, is to always describe the picture in the reading. My interpretation may be all wrong, but the picture is usually right. I believe we call this 'trust!'
CJ had a different lesson, which follows:

I don't know what you think the lesson is, but my lesson from this is that you should never close your mind to the possibility of seeing something totally unexpected, in your life and from the ethers. The last thing in the world that I would expect is for me to fall in love with a Catholic school for my daughter. And the last thing in the world that I expected to see that day was a pyramid poking out from the trees and buildings. It's a lesson to me on how to use your help. You've said it a million times that you deal in pictures.

INTERVIEW WITH A SHAMAN

I have known Michelle Christenson for several years and referred many happy clients to her over the years. My 'dark side,' which is ignorant and skeptical, shakes its head and rolls its eyes over these mysterious shaman processes. Don: Can you define, in 25 words or less, what a shaman is or does?
Michelle: The role of the shaman is to relieve suffering, to obtain advice/ knowledge and to educate against spiritual ignorance. A Shaman performs these tasks by entering a state of non -ordinary reality and is assisted by compassionate spirits.

Don: The field seems very remote from the 21st century, and yet it apparently is having quite a revival. Can you explain that?
Michelle: Shamanism (talking with the spirit helpers) has been outlawed and persecuted in many countries including this one, even though it is one of the oldest and most widespread of all human practices. Today, because of the tolerance and spiritual freedom, people are more willing to seek and express what is natural for them.

Don: Is it used in the modern world differently than it was in centuries past?
Michelle: Historically, the Shaman of the tribe was the person who performed diagnosis and the treatment for whatever condition existed. Healing meant that the body, mind, and spirit of the person were treated simultaneously. Shamanism and healing ceremony always existed as part of the tribal life. Today because we do not live in group tribal/community conditions, the Shaman usually works alone as a clinician without the benefit and assistance of the family/community members to provide support.

Don: Can you describe a couple of the processes used by a shaman?
Michelle: All Shaman enter an altered state of consciousness called the" Shamanic Journey".
The most classic forms of healing performed by Shamanic practitioners are the "Extraction", where negative energies causing illness are removed from the clients body, and the" Soul Retrieval", where power that has been lost to a client through traumatic episode is restored.

Don: How can those processes best be used by a person today?
Michelle: The Shamanic journey is a wonderful tool to help a person connect with their personal spirit helpers to ask advice and to obtain an enlightened perspective on a particular problem. The journey is a very practical skill to employ for everyday life.

Don: Do you have a favorite 'type' of client or issue?
Michelle: My specialty is working with people who have soul loss due to trauma and the chronic conditions that occur as a result. I also love working clearing houses and land of negative energies. Lately many people have come into my practice who need to boost their creativity and manifesting ability. It's all great work!

Don: Do you have to be with the person? Is this a hands on kind of process?
Michelle: I feel my best work is done hands on, but I often work at a distance. I have many clients who report that distance healing has had a profoundly positive affect on their lives.

Don: Oh go ahead...tell me one of your juiciest success stories!
Michelle: About 1 1/2 years ago a woman came to me suffering from chronic fatigue, depression and a failing relationship with a man she truly loved. She felt hopeless because she was unable to find the remedy to her situation. I performed a soul retrieval and I saw her for 5 follow-up appointments to integrate the soul parts that had been returned to her. She was much better, but was still suffering from low immune response. Through the Shamanic journey it was discovered that she had heavy metal poisoning, which was later verified and treated by several doctors. Her relationship began to flourish and she married the man of her dreams and is now pregnant with their first child.

Now don't laugh. It took me 10 years to figure this out. I would often marvel that I had several psychic clients in a row with the same sign. What are the odds? What is the cosmic factor bringing them in at the same time? What is wafting through the ethers?

ON THE NIGHTSTAND

As a former English teacher, I can be classified as a 'reader.' I usually say I don't read novels anymore....I read 'real' books. But here is an exception I want to promote. The DaVinci Code, by Dan Brown, is not only a novel but a murder mystery, my least favorite of all book genres. But don't let that fool you. This book is a very thin and clever disguise for the general concepts I have spent most of my adult life studying. It is on the best seller list now for weeks and my fear is that the vast majority of readers see it only as a cheap thriller when in fact it is popularizing concepts that have been hidden and argued about for 2000 years and are just in the past century coming out in the open. It is about to be made into a movie which I think is amazing! There is evolution. There is growth. There is hope, George W. not-with-standing. Finally the general public will be able to see and read about concepts and secrets that thousands of believers over the centuries have been burned at the stake over.
Read it now before the movie comes out!

REFLECTIONS ON REFLECTING

Here is yet another very practical tool you can use to gain insight into yourself and your subconscious. I came to this tool, which I recommend to many of my coaching clients, after many years of frustration. An example may help explain.
Many years ago during a cycle of general angst over my life's situation, I went to a nearby beach to commune with God or whatever it is 'out there' that I thought had the answers. As a good Virgo, I went with yellow legal pad and pen, earnestly waiting for The Words of Wisdom so I could transcribe them. (Now that I think of it, I seem to believe that God speaks more clearly too me if I'm naked. But I digress....)
Nothing happened. No voice, no insights, nothing. And I was pissed! I left in a Virgo snit and drove home, only to discover during the drive that a voice spoke to me very clearly. By the time I drove into my garage, I had the answer.
I watched this same pattern many times in my life. I go to a 'sacred spot' with a question and wait for the answer. Nothing. But later I get the clarity I searched for.
I think there is a lesson here for us when we go into a reflective state. It's almost as though my thoughts have to travel out past Pluto, reflect off some distant satellite, and bounce back to me in the form of an answer. Actually, I just think it takes time for our subconscious to work on the issue and report back to us. But whichever explanation you like....the answers come LATER, not at the time of the asking.
As the ancient Tarot says, "Ask and you will receive."
If you have a situation for which you seek guidance, I suggest you formulate a question very clearly. Then go to your 'reflection' period. That can be walking around the park; hiking on a mountain; watching the ocean; fishing; staring at a candle. Go do the activity but do NOT think about the issue. The activity or reflective time is for letting the thought settle down into your subconscious...or travel out past Pluto. This is the 'release,' in metaphysics. Let go of the issue for this time period and let the subconscious work on it.
But when your active time or reflection is over, 'download' the answer that will be waiting. Sit down with your yellow legal pad and start writing whatever comes to mind. You will be amazed how easily information flows once you get it started!

ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER?

Shortly after I took training as a coach, I realized there were many clients drawn to coaching who had ADD, so I soon took additional training in that field to better help my clients. Now seven years later, I'm even more stunned at the number of coaching clients who have ADD and don't even know it. They are often drawn to the coaching process in mid life because their life is STILL not working and they see coaching as one final hope for help.
If you are frustrated with your life, have a pattern of feeling that way for many years, and think you may have this newly defined disorder, I suggest you go to the following website and take a simple self test. Remember, this is just a very simple test to see if you may have it and is NOT a formal diagnosis. You wouldn't amputate based on information from the Internet, so don't diagnose yourself here either. But if you do score high on the test, I can refer you to helpers who can diagnose which of the six forms you have and recommend ways to treat it.

"THE SIMPLEST MAGIC I KNOW"

Thus said one of three clients who wrote in just one week about the magic of doing a simple Grape Cluster, which I reported on in the last issue. It's deceptively simple. It simply brings from the subconscious to the conscious mind what you want in a given situation. The problem most people have is making it too complicated. All you do is write out PICTURES of what it would be like if you had what you long for.

When I started working with you almost exactly a year ago, I told you I wanted to work on 3 things, one of which was "relationship". On June 10th, I finally did one where anyone (including me and my little girl, my subconscious) could vividly see what I was looking for. Funny thing happened when I was finished with it though - I was totally depressed because all the items seemed so basic, ordinary and normal and the only man I'd ever met who even came close to the person I was describing was already married..

You chuckled when I told you all of this and said, "When the right person shows up, it will be totally normal and ordinary to him, too". I left shaking my head in disbelief that such a man would ever show up in my life. I thought finding even a minority of these items in one person would be a huge stretch

Well, I'm shocked, delighted, awed and otherwise overwhelmed to report that today, July 30, the grape cluster has come true and the man whom it attempted to describe exceeds my wildest expectations. I thought I was shooting for the moon with that cluster, but I didn't know the half of it. I showed it to Eric yesterday and he thought it was "uncanny" because it describes him to a T (well at least the part it does describe!). I failed to put in anything about being smart, sensitive, kind, funny, and sexy as all get out, etc.! It barely begins to describe him in reality. Even better, he feels the same way about me!

So, I think ALL your clients should do grape clusters! And if they have trouble with it the first time, hang in there and do it again! I'm going to do one for my business and Eric wants to do one about our relationship. I'm also going to have all my financial coaching clients do them. I can't wait to see the results!

Oh, I should also mention that I've actually known Eric for over 10 years and he'd been in and out of my house as a friend for the last couple of years. It was only after the grape cluster that my eyes were totally opened to him as more than that. Ooolala

Psychic Case Study:
OUT OF AFRICA....BARELY!

Chellie K. came for a reading over 2 years ago. The first thing out of my mouth was, "You're going to write a book. Probably three books."
"I don't think so! I'm not a writer and I have dyslexia. Wrong person!"

Moving right along, the next picture about her was a desert scene.
"You're going to live in the desert for awhile."
"I don't think so! I happily live in green and wet Oregon."

Well, so much for that reading.
Chellie left feeling disappointed that once again she failed to find someone to help give direction to her life. That night as she got into bed and reached to turn out the light, suddenly beside the bed she saw the image of a small African child. Out of the eyes of that child came poetry, which Chellie had presence enough of mind to write down. That poem would become the guiding light that led Chellie on an odyssey to the deserts of Africa for years to come. She barely survived a vehicle accident, limping alone with a concussion and cracked ribs into a remote village, an ordeal so compelling her publisher wants her to write a book just on that. But through it all, she kept clicking her camera, photographing images of the extraordinary children orphaned by the AIDS virus. Those pictures, and that poem, are now in her first book, AFRICAN JOURNAL: A Child's Continent, which she presented to me with tears in her eyes as she recently came for another reading. It was with tears in MY eyes that I sent her out on a new odyssey with the United Nations and the reminder that she still owes us two more books!

How can coaching work when I don't know what I want?"

I know you're out there. You're feeling stuck in one or more areas of your life and haven't a clue where you want to go. THE CANCER TAROT CARD

Each sign of the zodiac is associated with a Tarot card, and for Cancer it is The Chariot.
This card shows the chariot leaving the walled city, or the safe and familiar, heading out into uncharted territory. This may seem scary at times, but note that the Chariot driver is well protected with armor and by the chariot itself. The card shows us the dual nature of heading out to find our heart's desire. It's at one time exciting and necessary, yet also frightening. This is normal!
You'll note that the strange animals pulling the chariot are actually at rest. So what is motivating the vehicle (you)? The forward energy comes from the canopy overhead, which represents 'the unseen forces, whatever you perceive them to be.'
The advice then for us all, but particularly for Cancers who may want to stay back in the safe protection of the walled city, is to not rely on the 'real' world forces but to tie ourselves to the invisible, mental forces that range all around us.
