THE EASIEST HARD THING TO DO
… OR IS IT THE HARDEST EASY THING TO DO?
In metaphysics it’s called ‘the release.’ In eastern mysticism it’s called ‘non-attachment.’ In the real world it’s called ‘Whatever!’
Whatever we call it, the process is absolutely necessary for us to get what we want. But how do we not become attached to something we want desperately? Perhaps a story will illustrate.
For several weeks I worked with a coaching client identifying new goals in her life. Week after week she got clearer on what she wanted. A divorce; a new relationship; a sold sign on her home; a new home; bills paid off. We worked on my standard Huna visualization and got clear on the vision of what she wanted, overcame any objections or fears she might have on the new vision, and then we waited. And nothing happened. But curiously, there was one final process in my visualization program that we never quite got to, and that was handing the vision over to a higher power and being done with it. Each week something happened to keep us from completing the exercise. Finally one Friday I said, “Enough. We’re not doing anything else today until we do a little ceremony where you hand this request to your Higher self and let it loose to work on it.”
That was Friday.
MONDAY I get a screaming email from her saying her husband had agreed to an amicable divorce; the first people who looked at the house bought it on Saturday; Sunday she happened upon a buildable lot and found a builder to put her dream house on it; her parents called, out of the blue, to say they were paying off her college loans as a favor to her. And oh yes… she met the man she is now married to!
That is the power of the release.
Releasing your request to a higher power acknowledges that YOU aren’t going to make these things happen. There is some power around you that will make it happen. And releasing it to the care and keeping of this greater power does NOT mean that you don’t care about it any more. You still care as much as before but now you acknowledge to yourself and the greater power that you are not the one to make it happen.
In the Huna visualization system it is at this point that we visualize the desired result one or more times each day to ‘water the seed’ of our desire. But we also visualize the vision any time we have doubts about its outcome or start to worry over what we want. We have a vision that has been turned over to some stronger force and we can remind ourselves of that and in effect ‘water’ the vision which reminds us and the higher power that we really do want it and are confident of its arrival soon.
An analogy I like is of putting your request or vision in a balloon. As long as you hang on tightly to the string, the balloon cannot go up into that other realm where visions are acted on and then brought back into reality. Once you let go of the string, the vision can go where it needs to be made real.
If you have a desire, put it in vision form… I call it the ‘end picture…’ and then do some small ceremony to release it to the care and keeping of your higher power. And if you don’t have a higher power… you’re in deep doodoo! You DO have one. Get to know it!
